Ron and Jon did 2D tests for it right after PatF, Anon, back when a 2D movie was possible. It wa supposed to look like tribal art come to life, so I'm betting Mauis tattoos are pretty close.

I'm really excited to see just where the plot with the Lava Goddess will go.
