10/10 IMDB - "Feels trippy, good cgi"

100% rotten tomatoes -"Yeah, the villain sucked, the jokes were out of place but, amazing visuals, not much more i can say"

10/10 IGN -"wasted villain, another origin story, good visuals though"
You pumped for the best marvel movie yet (after Civil War)

Have you brought your tickets? Please?

The problem with the Marvel movies is that they never meet their true potential.

There's really only one singular "Marvel Movie" that just gets remade over and over again, with the "differences" between the individual films being thin veneers. You'd think a series covering as disparate concepts as intergalactic criminals banding together, a heist comedy about stealing shrink rays, and a mystical adventure about a car crash survivor learning to tap into the heart of reality itself would feel really varied. But all of these genre trappings are just that: trappings. They're surface details. None of them really play into the actual guts of the film(s).

I think the moment it became obvious that Marvel was just going to tread water indefinitely was Age of Ultron. That SHOULD have been the film to signal a real tonal shift in the overall series, but instead it was just Avengers all over again. Like Ant-Man was just Iron Man all over again, and Civil War was just Avengers all over again, and Doctor Strange is just Iron Man all over again.

And none of the future Marvel movies look like they're going to change this either. Black Panther is just going to be Iron Man but with a black guy, Captain Marvel is just going to be Iron Man but with a woman, Spider-Man is just going to be Iron Man but with a teenager, and Thor 3 is being turned into an "action comedy" - which is code for turning it into Iron Man but with vikings.

And I think the general normie populace is finally starting to figure this out too. I'd be surprised if the MCU continues past Avengers 3: Part 2. It feels tired.
>>
>>87196302
>The problem with the Marvel movies is that they never meet their true potential.
But that's full potential Marvel have. They've done much more - they made literally who recognizible for normies.
DCEU - is definition of wasted potential. It could be superior universe easily. But somehow they've fucked up so hard that movie about Batman and Superman was so shitty it have less scores than Antman.

Watching pre-release movies, sitting in the second level drinking cheap beers and smoking weed

Making popcorn with 2x the flavoring, bagging it in paper bags and selling "Nuclear Popcorn" for 5 bucks a bag, pure profit.

Taking quarters out of the register and using them to play arcade games.

May, I miss being young and reckless. Cherish it!
>>
>>87197196
>Is anyone legitimately looking forward to this or guardians of the galaxy 2?

>>
>>87196451
>They've done much more - they made literally who recognizible for normies

Then why not just make an ad on TV? That's what many of them are, anyways. Ads for the proceeding Marvel movie.

Possibly one of the shallowest stories in modern cape films. Having characters pose like Jesus is not a substitute for actual depth. If you want to see iconography and narrative used in tandem to enhance one another and give a film depth, you should really be watching Stalker or The Third Man or The Conversation or something.

The formula is a nebulous theoretical concept of tone, cinematography and script that makes the MCU work where dozens of comic adaptions before failed.
If you actually watch the movies back to back they are vastly different except for a few similarities in structure and tone, really. Just the Captain America movies by themselves are three genres.
These movies also shaped the expectations of critics, though.
Now they are the gold standard of super hero movies and too much deviation from that makes a movie look like something not a super hero movie at all.

On the other hand Snyder's style has been rather predictable in all his movies and BvS looks like just the next one. And with a lack of the strongly drawn personalities people are expecting after the MCU movies, the great deficiencies in general cinematic quality and the tons of Snyderisms, it got panned.
With weakly motivated, unsympathetic heroes and contrived plot in your hero movie, what remains is a cool looking shell that falls apart when you look at it too hard. Like any generic action flick.

Oh, sure, he draws a bit from classical iconography. Some people like to pretend he's done some Arthurian epic, though, if you know anything about either topic, you know how stupid and shallow everything he's done is if that was truly Snyder's intention.

Ultimately though the symbols aren't important. They don't work because they're all there is to the film. It's just one trailer shot after the next, connected once and a while by flatly shot, uninteresting scenes of poorly written exposition.

Filmmaking at its most pretentious and worst.

If you really think someone can appreciate good films and then look at this and somehow not 'get' it, you're delusional. There is nothing of worth to get in BvS.

It's funny how some of these are actually good. I really didn't expect that.

If I had to choose, fist_of_shadow87.

Some of these are great though. OvenJew1942, Dethkiller204 (is he going to kill death?), Nightslayer (sounds more like a paladin if he's slaying the night). Nefarious angel just reminds me of Mxyzptlk.

Now that I think about it why didn't someone do Dr. Strange years ago? This guy's origin was prime movie material in 03 - 07

Because it wouldn't have drawn money

After Lee's Hulk, Ben Assfuck's Daredevil and Thomas Jane Punisher, the proverbial well was poisoned for a while
