I dunno who the fuck benbaloney is but he can fuck the right off. Rugrats singlehandedly spearheaded the 90's creative boom of children cable TV shows, either cartoon or live action.
If you don't like Rugrats you can't say you liked Doug, Pepper Ann, Ren & Stimpy, Cow and Chicken or even South Park for that matter.

Rugrats pushed that boundary. Only similar show at that time was The Simpsons and its first season barely managed to take a chuckle out of you, with most episodes being cringeworthy shit like the ending of that episode when Homer gets an RV. Meanwhile Rugrats kept being consistently good.

Also the art style was top notch, never seen before in American TV. Yes, this was something The Simpsons already did but I gotta say Rugrats looked more original. Both shows were originally animated by Klasky Csupo and shared a lot of staff too.
