None of the mutants qualify because as mutants, no single character truly stands on their own. They're all tied to the mutant struggle in some way. Wolverine can perhaps stand on his own, but not in the same way as non-mutants.

Sue is tied to the F4. She's not a single character who can carry her own mythos and franchise. She's forever part of a team, even if that team is disbanded.

None of the derivative characters work either (She-Hulk, Spider-Woman, etc), because they aren't unique. They don't have a solid foundation to build their own franchise, and are dependent on knowing their male counterpart in order to make any connection to them.

Well let's see, being Wonder Woman might be another fine character role for Kitty Pryde to usurp. She's already up to, what, 15 stolen roles already.

Fuck it, next she'll be Wonder Woman, and then she can be Multiple Man at which time her multiples can become even more characters.

She Hulk should be the easiest one to put in the front lines, but might be the hardest to cast.

Sue would be an ideal choice, if they could get the F4 film rights back. She's powerful, capable, well-known, not a female version of any male character in Marvel's roster, was the first heroine of the Marvel Age back in the '60s. But they're not going to promote her as THE Marvel woman unless they can control her media fully.
