I think Mattel is doing a slow fade on the franchise. There's no new movies in the works and it seems like fewer and fewer dolls are being released. Might be a mercy considering the huge drop in quality, though.

I used to dread the idea of this franchise ending. However, the biggest part of the franchise, the character's battle over destiny vs. free will, has pretty much wrapped up in Dragon Games. Volume 4 has been dissapointing, and so has Epic Winter. Only thing I'm looking forward to now is the graphic novel I think comes out next year.

Also, for those who haven't read the EAH books, read the ones by Shannon Hale. It expands on Legacy Day, fleshes out a LOT of the characters, and overall great adventures if you enjoy the cartoons already.
Also, I don't want to spoil it, but Maddie ends up doing something really badass in it.

I just finished watching all the MH movies on this list. While the most recent was the best in terms of overall execution (i.e. story, animation, characters...etc), the previous films had more interesting ideas and designs (even though I prefer the proportions on the more recent girls). I hope they'll reintroduce some of the older characters (especially the ones from Haunted and Freaky Fusion).

I don't have a problem with the makeup. It's the thousand yard stare and the perpetually puckered lips that are too much for me. That sort of design seems outdated to me.

I know it's silly to expect a fashion doll to look like on of those asian BJDs, but just toning some of these features down would improve them in my eyes. They do fix these problems in the reboot movie, and that's why I'm so enamored with it.

Apple didn't ask for Darling to put her lips on her; Apple didn't ask for Blondie to drool when giving public casts about her; she didn't force Raven to bake a cake fulled with "love" or to seat next to her and make a matching butterfly flying next to hers; Apple didn't enchant Briar into all the grabbing, the kissing and kidnapping away from Raven in the books. The Apple worship by many is pretty clear guys, and canon. As to the girl herself, Apple's pretty clearly more selfcentered with regard to her destiny and being some conservative, valitvictourian perfectionist.

I know Dragon Games didn't do Apple any favors but you have to consider where Apple was: Apple had moved ALOT to give ground and way to both Raven and the new Rebels and their philosophy. Yet Raven had only moved belittledly on her end, not even coming up with alternate path for the royals screwed by the messed up destnies could take. Once more Raven would get triggered no matter how Apple brought up the subject of futures, even knowing Apple's own was in her hands. By the end of WTW Apple had lost almost everything about her's and her place in the world. Now add Apple's mother twisting her arm, who has yet to hear this news, and manipulation by the greatest villian ever to break the very moral code Apple held herself to and Apple was not in a great place by the time Raven told her to go off herself in fairytale terms during Dragon Games.

Just saying I wouldn't hold Apple's emotional breakdown at that moment against her.

There are two shows, Monster High, and Ever After High. Monster High is with monsters doing teen girl stuff, Every After High is Princesses fighting against the forces of Destiny itself. The latter has superior story telling, continuity, characterization, everything. It actually has an overarching plot, unlike the former.
