I almost was until I started watching Z Nation.

Still over them in video games though.

Zombies are the least threatening of the classical monsters.

Vampires are superhuman serial killers, who blend amongst us, and pass on the street, and who have centuries of experience entrapping and killing would be hunters. Normal rounds are almost entirely worthless against them, some of them know magic, and they can outsmart the most intelligent of humans. Jojo, Hellsing, World of Darkness, and Type-Moon make zombies their bitch.

Werewolves are ferociously strong in any much folklore can only be eliminated with wolfs-bane or through the application of silver.

Zombies are weak, slow, and dumb as a brick. Their only strength is in their numbers.

Werewolves can usually die if you just hurt them bad enough, especially in modern stuff.

Classic vampires had none of this superhuman stuff that's part of them nowadays. They were just really sneaky shapeshifters that were hard to kill, what with being dead already. They however had a laundry list of vulnerabilities.

Zombies were slow but stupid strong and unkillable. The only solution was to hack them to bits, not the headshot stuff that works now. Even a single zombie was dangerous cause your only option was to get in close where it has the advantage or simply keep running

I never liked zombies in the first place. They just don't cut it for me, they're not interesting at all.
A few years ago there was a huge resurgence of zombies portrayal in media that seemed to attract the attention of normies and people who, unless driven by the usual waves of advertising to tell them what is or not acceptable to like. I think the shoehorning of Plants vs Zombies back then also was a big cause for this but for a while zombies were fucking everywhere and the I AM SUCH A NERD crowd still associate them with a membership card to prove that they're part of the geek world.
I knew a guy who would sperg out whenever zombies or spiders or whatever was deemed hip at the moment was brought up in a conversation. He was so fucking annoying all the time, always trying to prove how much of a nerd he was.
I may be biased because of this though but I never liked zombies anyways.

I was never under zombies.
A good zombie flick every now and then was okay, but they're nothing that I'd consider a genre in themselves which so many seem to now.
They're quite literally a meme concept

Dracula could turn into mist, transform into a wolf, create slaves, and walk on moonlight (fly). The first of these by itself is very broken. Hellblazer had a vampire with that power who used it to drain the blood from unborn babies. Pre-Nosferatu vampires also weren't destroyed by sunlight. You had to stake them, chop off their heads, and fill their mouths with garlic.

shapeshifter that was hard to kill. Still didn't slap people around with superhuman strength
>>

Yeah, but original myths were more about plague metaphors than anything, and there were lots of different ways to become a vampire (werewolf also).

IIRC, the "dead drinking blood" bit comes from the Greeks -- someone gets advice from the Dead in Hades by offering them blood to drink. So much of vampire lore is predicated on burial practices -- burying someone who is still alive but who appears dead, usually in shallow graves that they can push out of, and then return home, or the effects of decomposition on the body (poorly understood at best) that became synonymous with vampirism.

Not to mention the poor bastards suffering from porphyria...

They actually did. In addition to the other suite of powers Dracula had the strength of ten men.

>10

20 strong men, actually.

In some cases, there's also the threat of infection and becoming one of them.

Zombies are the ones that because they are in numbers are the truest monster. One that kills societies instead of individuals.

I'd rather brave a zombie apocalypse over a vampire one, such as Gehenna.
