The DVDs explained Hugh likes ducks because one of the show's writers, Steven Banks, was attacked by a duck when he was four years old at a park. He vividly remembers approaching a nest of baby ducks only to be assaulted by a much larger duck, who threw him onto his back and began loudly quacking while striking his face and body with its wings. His parents laughed and watched while this was happening. They claimed they thought he was simply playing and that the duck was another child, but he remembers the duck violently having his way with his prepubescent self before his parents finally approached his stained, broken, twitching body. This thought remained in Banks' head until he was eighteen years of age where, after a subsequent childhood of lighting small animals on fire and alcohol abuse, took a fire axe to both of his parents while they were copulating in the shower. He framed the local impoverished african-american neighborhood for the crime, claiming one of them broke into his home, inciting a three-week long race riot leading to several hundred black deaths. The following utopia was later also used as inspiration for Retroville, although a black character was later added to dissuade suspicion.
