I went through the same motions. When he just appeared with no explanation in Legacy of Wolverine, I said "He's going to be killed. No one in the story even mentioned him". Sure enough, at the tail end, he gets killed and X-23 doesn't even go in to help him. I was so pissed.
But the funny thing is, I wasn't made when Bunn did it. Bunn at least showed that he knew the character and gave him enough panel time to make it feel like a tragic goodbye. He even had him get killed the same way Wallflower got killed, and that's kind of poetic.

Actually, Iceman is one of the few X-men qualified to teach. Everyone else teaches bullshit mutant-problems or combat classes. Bobby just teaches straight up math. No bullshit. Algebra, Calculus, that shit. He's the closest thing the Jean Grey School had to a qualified teacher.

Bobby went to college, put in his time, and got a degree in Accounting. None of Beast's bullshit "oh, I'm a supergenius so I got my doctorate in a year" shit. Almost every Xavier alumn either immediately became a teacher after graduation from Xavier's, dropped out of college when it came time to re-up with the X-men or pulled the bullshit "I'm a super-genius so I just instantly get my degrees" shit.

Xavier/Jean Grey's School for Gifted Youngsters has only created like one proper functioning member of society, and that was Bobby. And what does he get in return? As I've said before, it seems that back then, people used "Gen X" as a marketing gimmick, rather than actual cohort of people. It didn't matter if you were 5, 10, 20, or 30 years old; if you were a kewl Xtreme youth from before 2006, you were Gen X.

For instance, Kids WB had a shitty show called "Generation O" about hip, cool youths who play in a rock band. The Sabrina the Tennage witch cartoon had an episode called "Generation Hex". Yu Gi Oh Gx said the GX stood for "Generation X" in the theme song. Among other examples.
