It hurts sales becaise people will never jump into anything besides a number 1, which makes companies do constant relaunches sales, which artificially inflates sales up to a crash (as we're seeing marvel having a freefall right now)
I'm not saying long form storytelling doesn't have a place in comics, but 6-12 issue stories being the norm, especially when the stories do a horrible job of being satisfying issues to issue as opposed to something like Robinson's Starman or Johns GL, which did a good job of long form storytelling.
We need a happy medium like Moore's Swamp Thing or Morrison's Animal Man. 1-3 issue stories that advance an overarching plot as effectively as a decompressed 6 issue arc with several one shots peppered in to keep pacing strong

Good lord. Their circular conversation where Cjeetah went from claiming to hate WW then love her back and forth wasted that entire issue. The scene could have been done in 2 or 3 pages instead of 10 including multiple spalsh pages and panels. Shorten that, and shorten Trevor and his gang talking about doing stuff instead of doing it and cutting the wasted spalsh pages there, (3 pages to reveal le spooky misty Mountain, aka it's fucking nothing) and they could have put the entire next issue into that one. Economic paneling (created byncutting Rucka's completelt decompressed scripts) wpuld make the book 10 times better. Diverting from a diversion of the original premise (what happened to Olympus? which inexplicably became what happened to Themyscera? off page between the rebirth and #1 issues) is not good writing or a style, it's garbage.

None of that takes away from what he's given us. Again Wondy needs help. Cheetah needs help. And while doing all this we have some decent interaction with Steve and other supporting cast members. Not to mention that this Wondy is a soft reboot and a chance to get new readers that are coming in from the BVS hype train to know the character. It's a slow burn plot. Again something that Rucka has been known for. The book is well written. The characters pretty well fleshed out with more to come. I'm more than willing to have great character development take the forefront over main plot as long as the main plot isn't ass. And we're one I believe issue 3 or 4 of the lies story arch which is clearly a cheetah centric story. So chill. The pacing for what it is is alright.
