I thought you guys are always saying that Peter is "holding back his strength."

I refuse to believe he can't even knock back Superman a little.
>>
>>86783255
Superman was stronger back then
>>
>>86783255
Crossovers are always inconsistent
>>
Silver age superman, anon. He probably could shrug off a frigging atom bomb.
>>
>>86783322

Why simply shrug it off? Why not absorb it and become even stronger, gaining atomic heat vision and nuclear winter breath.

This was back in the 70's. Superman and Spider-Man had different power sets during the 70's and early 80's. The way it also worked was that if Superman puts all his strength and effort into standing there, he's prepared to take a punch from Spider-Man and the Hulk without falling over. If he's not prepared he might be knocked over by Hulk and maybe Spider-Man.
>>
>>86783357
>nuclear winter breath

Oh that's good. Well done, sir.
>>
>>86783255
Spidey can not-hold back as much as he wants, but he'd be lucky to get away with broken hands after punching Silver age Superman, who was pretty damned OP among a genre where OP is the norm. It would be like Muhammad Ali trying to box Fort Knox.
>>
>>86783359
Why is Superman pretending to be The Blob?
>>
>>86783381

He'd need it to fight off whatever radioactive horror the bomb created
>>
>>86783359
>wear himself out trying
>hulk
Was superman also super retarded back then?
>>
>>86783322
>atom bomb
He could suck in the mushroom cloud and spit it out into space to eliminate the fallout without any ill effect. But that's only if he didn't stop the blast with his bare hands to begin with. Or even prevent the bomb from dropping by flying through the time barrier and disarming it before it is dropped.

But what he'd probably do is something Super convoluted like forming a giant lead cistern from raw ore to contain the radiation/blast.

No, but Hulk could eventually be worn out in other stories. His power levels back then were also different (and inconsistent) despite the Madder Hulk Gets Stronger Hulk Gets thing.

Dude, that's Silver Age Supes. Spider-Man's lucky that he wasn't changed into a puppet for a day.

I really like this character dynamic. If Batman and Steve Rogers are kind of a thing, or Punisher and whoever, then Supes and Spidey should be another.

Woah, such a compelling and interesting character!

DC fans are like kids

>muh hero is super strong and super awesome and super perfect!
>>
>>86784120
Here's your (you)
>>
>>86784120

Hardly. I tend to gravitate towards DC a bit more than marvel when it comes to comics and take it from a fan, superman is the LEAST of the interesting heroes.. hes generally considered boring as fuck mostly because its impossible to write something GOOD for such an OP character.
>>
>>86784120
They've just said what the character can do. You're the one treating it as if that matters.
>>
>>86784178
Have you tried reading good Superman stories?
Like Up, Up and Away
Brainiac
Morrison's Action Comics, Kelly's Action Comics etc.
>>
>>86784178
>hes generally considered boring as fuck mostly because its impossible to write something GOOD for such an OP character.

Superman's a hack filter. If you can't writer a good Superman story then you're a hack
>>
>>86784178
This, no wonder the more exciting stories about Superman have him doing nothing related to being a superhero.
Same for his current ongoing, the most hyped people have been is whe he was just a guy at a park with his family and not when he was fighting monsters or doing more heroic shit.
>>
>>86783824
When Jimmy become the whinny twink that is nowday?
>>
>>86784120
>>muh hero is super strong and super awesome and super perfect!

Superman is a aspirational character and fills the void of a paternal figure. Is obvious that the childrens in 50-60s want him to be the most awesome of all the heroes.
>>
>>86784402
Since the fucking 60's.

Olsen is a top-tier trap when he wants to be.
>>
>>86783771
In the silver age Spider-man was stronger than Hulk, thor and the thing and they even said Peter was even fully mature so he was going to be even more stronger

That's been his thing since the Silver Age, really. It's kinda why I still like Superman. You have to get REAL weird to make good comics with him so you get shit like underground superhuman wrestling clubs and mutants peacefully living underground Metropolis and bottle cities and stuff. The family stuff is fun and all but Superman's "normal" should always be weird as hell.

>>

Comic fights are inconsistent and comic characters are as strong as the writers decide them to be.

If you don't believe me, name a single A list character that is consistently written, power levels wise.
>>
>>86783255

>Hellboy
>A-List

Both his movies made less than their production budget, normies don't give enough of a shit for him to be anything above C-List.

Which has nothing to do with his quality, of course.
>>
>>86783255
The thing most people don't get about Superman is that he doesn't really fly, or shoot powerful lasers from his eyes, or hit really hard, or anything like that. He's surrounded by a field - a result of his Kryptonian heritage under a certain light - which makes everything around him super gay.
>>
>>86783990
I got mine for $15
>>
Those panels are great but they always make me think about how fucking retarded the idea of Batman fighting Superman is.
>>
>>86783300
Spider-Man is always inconsistent.
>>
>>86784678
People who think that depowering Superman would make him more interesting are full of shit.

When Superman was so strong that nobody could really fight him all the stories were about people trying to trick him, or him getting dragged into weird situations or watching him pull bullshit powers out of his ass.

When you maker him weaker everything becomes a boring slugfest. He brawls with Luthor. He brawls with Braniac. He brawls with Doomsday. Just generic haymakers and 'this ends. now'. It's fuckin boring.

>>86783357

>>
>>86785598
That's only if he finds a way to get more pissed off, which only happens if something is actively harming or insulting him. If Superman just stands there and takes the punishment, then Hulk has no reason to fight. He's wearing him out mentally, not physically.
>>
>>86785607
He's not wrong. If you can't write a Superman story you shouldn't be writing comics. He's the most basic of heroes to work on, it shouldn't even be hard.
>>
>>86785273
Spider-Man chooses to be street-tier. If Captain America can lead the Avengers who fight cosmic threats than Spider-Man is NOT limited to the likes of Punisher, Daredevil, etc.
>>
>>86786748
Leading a team isn't the same as beating cosmic forces by himself m8.

Cap's not putting down Superman in a fight either.
>>
>>86783423
Hulk can get tired. Even in modern comics.
>>
>>86783771
Marvel vs DC.

But also Sun God kicked Hulk's ass

>>86784611
In every era since hulk has existed superman has been stronger.
