What defines a 'normie'? How many comics do you have to own to be a real fan? Does comic nerd cred have less value if someone reads Jem comics versus capeshit comics? What if the point they bring up is not realistic/too silly in the specific cannon of the movieverse?
We all want to feel like our comic collecting has meaning, but being on a high horse about it is silly. Just suggest to them that they read the specific arc/issues that counter-argues their claim, or recommend your favorite authors/verses and you can bond about it.
Every comic fan starts out as a 'normie' and there's no need to shame someone for their lack of knowledge if you aren't going to inform them the error of their ways.

The purple man isn't purple and his backstory was changed to fit with the show's theme of abusive relationships (his parents). There's still several scenes on which he looks purple due to lighting and Tennant's performance was great

Comic Nuke works in comics but the moment you put him on TV everyone would see how incredibly corny the concept is. People also miss that him being Nuke was a PLOT TWIST. They even changed his name and didn't even allude to his identity other than saying he had been on spec ops until "give me a red"
