nah i haven't made the OP, i was gonna but i fell asleep. the rendering for the after credits scene failed twice and it took several hours of rendering each time so i ended up manually having to export every last frame as a sequence.

Not any of those anons and am barely keeping up with the convo, but I made two shorts during college and no one really gave a shit about them. So implying that just somehow "making" something means you're guaranteed for people to look at it, and that people honestly believe this notion to be true, only makes it more infuriating when you do and no one cares.

That being said, I also know if I wanted to get recognized, I would draw fanart with big fanbases but I'm more concerned with liking my own work than making sure my work had a lot of notes on it. Which is why I have a lot of fanart lip sync tests I did but I've only uploaded a very, very small portion because I thought they were really lackluster animations. So if I wanted to just get e-attention, I know exactly how to do it and only have myself to blame for not getting it. But I do recognize it's frustrating when you spend a lot of time on something that instantly goes to die.

But I have no idea what the conversation is 100% about because someone is talking about knockoffs and parodies and maybe I'm just spouting out random shit.

As an artist, it annoys me when people complain about other people's success and yet they're not focused on the end goal or their own work. They're the ones that will endlessly shit on other artists and yet they haven't done anything themselves. Yes, it sucks when something you've spent a lot of time on doesn't get noticed but that's how this industry is. People will get noticed for mediocre work or producing something for popular shows, that's life.

If it's what you really want to do, you'll take the good with the bad and keep moving. If not, you'll take every setback and wallow in it.

Hey, fella, don't diss on tweens. Tweens and puppet animation is literally the only way I can meet a deadline of "animate this in 8 hours" for employers. Hell, even my storyboards get really puppet-y when I'm asked to do them in 1 - 2 days. I'd be doing a lot more free overtime if it weren't for precious Flash and Toonboom shortcuts.

It's kinda sad that frame by frame is only relevant in Japan and France now. And in Japan the 2d animators are literally paid slave wages, worse than fast food workers for that much work. I guess it's a matter of whether you want to have a comfortable living or be a starving artist but produce something that you can be proud of (that you likely personally won't be remembered for).

Yeah, me and a couple of other interns were asked make all 12 shorts for the 2015 collection within a week. They'll more than likely ask me to do this year's shorts collection as well, but they're moving the puppet models from Flash to ToonBoom and I'm genuinely excited because ToonBoom's rigging and bone tool compared to Flash's is like comparing an Atari to a PS4.

It's mighty impressive OP got his animation to look as near-perfect as he did. Fan animations are getting intense. Back in my day, the best online animators had to offer was Legendary Frog.
