What I'm wondering is did Toriyama do it on purpose? There's a helluva lot to connect DBZ to Superman, it's almost impossible for it to be a coincidence.
I do think Snyder was inspired by DBZ's fight scenes tho.

Toriyama liked MoS so much he did Dragon Ball Minus to make Goku's origin even closer to Superman's.

The name is Namekusei, only in english it's called Namek. I'm pretty sure it has a super silly translation too, like most names in DBZ.
