>Ann is beautiful. When you think of Peter Parker, I wanted to have this big change in the life of what makes Otto different from Peter. And when you read all the Otto Octavius stories of his background, of his growing up, of who he was — and even as Dock Ock — all the women he falls in love with, he sees them for who they are inside.

>Look at Stunner. Look at all these, like, nerdy girls he was dating as Otto. I think that’s something Otto does something better than Peter. He sees people who are truly beautiful and loves them for that.

>And you look at everyone Peter has fallen in love with, and every single one of them is superficially beautiful on the outside. And the reason for that is they’re all created by John Romita Sr., who drew everyone woman beautiful.

>What guy wouldn’t fall for Gwen Stacy or Mary Jane? Or even if he falls in love with like a Deb Whitman, yeah, she’s the girl with glasses, but she’s the girl with glasses who can suddenly take off her glasses and whip out the hair.

>Everyone Peter falls in love with is so classically beautiful, and to me that is anti-Marvel.

>To me, the Marvel Universe is not about perfect people. To me the Marvel Universe — the thing that makes it so much better than any other superhero universe — is the Marvel Universe is the book about people with feet of clay.

What are some of your favorite quotes from comic creators?

>I see no reason why children as young as six, seven, or even three shouldn't be allowed to produce corporate comic books to relentless monthly deadlines. And have to write several titles at once to make a decent living. That's what a proper childhood's all about isn't it? This is the 21st century after all and these unruly little bastards have been milking post-Victorian sentimentality for all it's worth for way too long. Time to get kids back where they belong - up chimneys, down mines, and tied to the printing presses! If you can pick up a brick to smash a car window, then you can build me a textile factory, son ... here's a whole half dollar for your day's labor. Now put down that Justin Timberlake bio-comic and get back on the production line!

I think if you have to give Peter a subtle character flaw this is a pretty good one backed up by years of evidence.

>>
>>86560310
Anna is fucking great. Too bad Slott flubs any interaction she gets with Peter and now she's definitively not a LI. The only way I could get my fix of PeterxAnna was from a fucking fanfiction.
>>
>>86560677
His subtle character flaw is his guilt. On the outside it's like a tiny scratch.

Hell, loving Gwen even though he knows what she did, and planned to do, is a pretty meaningful one.

That's the thing about character flaws, though. Eventually, the character is supposed to move passed them.

>Pedophiles are almost certainly "born that way". Again, we go to evolutionary conditioning. Seek the youngest, strongest, most healthy, for breeding purposes. A sure (or as sure as it gets) way to guarantee the survival of your genes. Pedophilia also brings along a big heaping helping of learned responses, however. In a society like ours, where "normal" sex is considered by many to be filthy and disgusting, "abnormal" sex is of course even moreso. "Abnormal" in this case meaning anything—even simple physical attraction—that is not "age-appropriate", heterosexual, and strictly for procreation. Preferably missionary position. Thus, any confused individual who finds himself attracted to young girls is likely to find himself attracted to increasingly younger girls, as part of his pattern of self-loathing. So much emotional torment—in victims and victimizers—would surely be set aside if our society was sexually liberated enough to even be able to say "Sure, it's okay to be attracted to eleven year olds. Just don't do anything about it!"

Do you think DC and marvel know Bryne is probably a pedophile, going by this and his tendency to put young teenage girls or younger in certain situations?
>>
>>86560117
Why do people keep posting pics of this man with down syndrome?
>>
>>86563375
>the youngest, strongest, most healthy, for breeding purposes
that logic doesn't stand when girls that young are more likely to suffer complications during pregnancy and have less than healthy young
you want someone whose hips have fully widened and who has already been exposed to and developed an immunity to a wide array of diseases like chicken pox and different flu strains.

>>
>>86561236
It only looks small because he keeps everything bottled up. His homicidal rage, his self loathing, his own accomplishments... He doesn't think very highly of himself in any capacity. Slotta only half right. The women he falls in love are beautiful because they're supporting characters co starring. I guarantee you it wouldn't have been the case if they weren't.

Anna Maria is gorgeous, but a midget. And that's somehow exempt? Granted I'd rail her harder than an inmate laying down tracks, so Spotty 2 Hotty's morally superior stance on love interests becomes moot and self gratifying. The man is shallow and vapid faux intellectual.

>Anna Maria is gorgeous, but a midget. And that's somehow exempt?

It is, at least it seems the widely accepted belief to me. Look at "alt" models. They're just hot girls. By any ones (excluding the occasional "tattoos, ruined"comment) standard. But they are promoted as and promote themselves as unconventional beauty. Same attractive facial features, smooth skin and body types that normally get attention or are considered attractive but because they have a few or a great many piercings and tattoos they stake claim on making headway for diversity in beauty. All you need is one defining quality that sets you apart and it's perfectly acceptable to be referred to as an unconventional beauty.

The entire interview was him making flippant comments. Like:

"I must admit I have no time for the '80s style "serious superheroes" books riding the retro wave; never resisting any chance to gratuitously stick the boot in, I thought Watchmen was self-conscious, derivative, and heavy-handed when it first appeared and time hasn't mellowed my opinion of this vastly overrated series - so the comics I dislike most of all at the moment are filled with unsexy '80s retro "superheroes-in-the-real-world" type stories. All these soldiers-in-tights comics seem miserly and lacking in wonder, surrealism or novelty. Even Alan Moore himself ran screaming from this kind of story and began an ungainly, 15-year long attempt to reinvent himself as me. So why anyone would look to the awkward pomposity of mid-'80s comics for inspiration is baffling."

and

"Can't I have a simple question, Miss? What's my favorite species of butterfly? Who's the best dancer: Fred Astaire or Christopher Reeve? "

>The DC comics were always a lot more true blue. Very enjoyable, but they were big, brave uncles and aunties who probably insisted on a high standard of you know mental and physical hygiene. Whereas the Stan Lee stuff, the Marvel comics, he went from one dimensional characters whose only characteristic was they dressed up in costumes and did good. Whereas Stan Lee had this huge breakthrough of two-dimensional characters. So, they dress up in costumes and do good, but they've got a bad heart. Or a bad leg. I actually did think for a long while that having a bad leg was an actual character trait.
