It would be great to see more villains like this. It feels like too often writers think that making an antagonist complex means making him "likeable" or making him a right.

A lot of the time antagonistic people are just selfish and are only polite to the extant that it serves their needs. Like anyone else they probably have reasons and wants outside of being evil. That stuff is definitely worth understanding. But at the end of the day they still choose to hurt those around them.
