IMO long-running comics are sorely underappreciated. What's your favorite creator-owned comic/writer run that's over 100 issues long?

Pic related.

Usagi Yojimbo isn't unappreciated, it just isn't coming out monthly and is generally acknowledged as pretty fucking good so there's less people posting about it constantly to argue points on this board.
>>
>>86018446
I didn't mean Usagi Yojimbo in particular is underappreciated, I meant long-running comics in general are. The American market is built to hype the latest number 1 issue when I think it's more more admirable for a book to stay consistently good for an extended period of time.
>>
You posted my favorite. It's pretty great.
>>
>>86018395
Will it reach 200 issues?

It actually has already if you include all the material released so far.
>>
So what's everyone favorite Usagi Yojimbo arc? Grasscutter need not apply
>>
>>86018395
Badger and Nexus both have over 100 issues spanning decades.
>>
Would anyone read a full storytime of this?
>>
>>86018906
I would since I have seen it recommended but still haven't read it

He did say /writer run and Bendis really did seem to be pretty much allowed to do whatever the fuck he wanted with that.

>What's your favorite creator-owned comic/writer run that's over 100 issues long?

Love & Rockets is my favorite comic.
>>
>>86019090
best bendis
>>
>>86019143
I like it but it never grabbed me that hard. Which is weird since my favorite manga is a slice of life social drama thing. But fine taste still
>>

>>86018982
Should I start with the original appearances and Fantagraphics series, or just jump straight into the Dark Horse ongoing?
>>
>>86019646
The former. It's a great series from the word go and while you can pretty much jump in anywhere, there are numerous callbacks to older stories.

Not my favorite. But it deserves a mention. And Fred Perry is a cool dude.
>>
I can't even think of many
Yojimbo, Invincible, Walking Dead, Spawn but I think he stopped writing/drawing, Powers maybe I don't know how long it is
>>
>>86020010
How good is this outside of the radical tits?

Love & Rockets. Altough it didn't actually run over 100 issues since they kinda stopped using the traditional comic book format after issue 50. But if they had it would be over 100 issues easily.
>>
That reminds me, I need to read those huge Usagi Yojimbo: The Special Edition reprints I bought a few weeks ago.

Daisho for me.

Invincible has had its peaks and valleys for sure, but as a whole it's still a series I love dearly and I'll be really sad to see it go.

The Mother of Mountains for me
>>
>>86019706
this. plus it's cool to see how Sakai's art slowly improves and evolves over time
>>
>>86019140
speaking of bendis I gotta include Powers as one of my personal favorite long running series. I know his style tends to grate on /co/ but I'll always love it
>>
>>86018601
is this any good?
>>
>>86024212
Nexus is great, anon. Pulpy science fiction with gorgeous art by Steve Rude.
>>
>>86025509
The beginning is especially awesome. I fucking love the Bowl Shaped World stuff.

I really like the first 100 issues of Savage Dragon.
Don't judge me.
>>
>>86025615
Savage Dragon and Spawn are the only books from the original Image founders to be continuously published, right? Larsen must be doing something right.

God o fucking love usagi I just finished senso after ad two of the saga books with a third one on The way any chance we'll get a real ending to the series or will it just keep going till the author dies?
>>
>>86023925
Bendis was great. Then he wasn't.
>>
>>86026498
The only thing Larsen is doing "right" is using his influence to keep his book around. It sells like 5K monthly, not making this up.

Are you kidding? I go between three LCS, and I've never seen more than three of the new issue.

The final Inazuma arc
>>

I actually prefer the Dragon Bellow Conspiracy arc over Grasscutter.
>>
>>86033424
Dragon Bellow Conspiracy is basically Helm' s Deep of Usagi Yojimbo.

I'm not old, am I?

>>86033900
Sorry anon, but I read the original miniseries and I thought Katchoo was an insufferable mega-bitch.

I've seen tons of love for Strangers in Paradise though so I guess I'm the weird one for not liking it.
>>
>>86023374

Whenever I see Freddy's cape I still think it's part of Battle Beast that's still alive and trying to take him down.
>>
>>86018395

I like seasons for that bitter granny death.
>>
>>86034094
no, you're right, she was.
the main characters all have actual arcs, so Katchoo goes on to get over herself and become a good person.

other stuff happens. Cancer, lesbian mafias, a skeevy asshole gets comeuppance and eventually sort of becomes a human.

It's basically what every webcomic wishes it would be, both in terms of character arcs and artistic worth.
