with kubos performance at the box office can we finally admit that these guys and their fans are a problem?
Not really. Disney's animated films have a pretty good track record of being good. Kubo was good but it's not recognizable. It's not like Laika was expecting to do Disney numbers anyway.
>>85889784
how in the fuck is it Disney's fault kubo failed
if anything, blame Seth Rogen and that garbage he made
People rather watched capeshit or Rogen's masterpiece, you can't blame the mouse for this one!
Laika is fucking retarded for releasing their gloomy artsy shit movie in summer
>>85889868
Would've probably been a much better Halloween-release, tv spots about giant skeleton demons and weird masked assassins and you can get kids dress up like them.
>>85889825
laika films have a good track record too.
is there any other film that looks like kubo at the moment?
>>85889919
but the film isnt about that, its about adventure
>>85889784
disney has no fans
only customers
This is the third Kubo thread we've had today. Quit making these things
>>85891867
so sorry you had problems finding the waifu thread asshole
Laika was the one who fucked it up, there isn't even a Disney movie on theaters right now.
Instead of waiting for a better date of release, Laika went and released the movie when kids are returning to school and when capeshit and Food Orgy were still screening.
It's not like it matters, though, they have enough money to do this shit.
Isn't Laika loaded with Nike money? Do they even HAVE to do good?
>>85889784
The mouse would probably do like they did with Miyazaki, and translate it into the non-English languages and manage distribution in exchange for merchandising rights if they could.
Just because Disney auto-wins Oscars (because, as we saw in the past, you aren't required to have seen anything in the Animation categories and most people chosen dislike animation so they just vote by brand) doesn't mean Disney strangled the medium.
>DC movie gets shitty reviews
>FUCKING DISNEY!!!
>non-MCU Marvel movie gets shitty reviews
>FUCKING DISNEY!!!
>Kubo underpreforms
>FUCKING DISNEY!!!
Is Disney the new cal arts as the go-to scapegoat on /co/?
>>85892473
Cal Arts actually is the cause of problems, Disney is a boogymam because its a big target.
Like people using company/console/edition/board wars to cover their own dissatisfaction.
>>85889784
Nigga, you don't blame the people tgat you are tryinf to cativate for not buying what you are trying to sell. Are you retaded and underage?
>Disney
Fucking reach harder, dude.
You know who fucked Kubo? Seth Rogan and /co/.
>Sausage Party
>gets one thread every three fucking days
>hit bump limit constantly
>people go and see it just to see how shit it is
>Kubo
>gets maybe one thread a week
>maybe 40-50 replies on average
>>85892533
I actually think that executives that greenlight shows are worst than Calarts. People on /co/ are just retarded and don't know who to blame.
Its the executives who believe that a trendy style will sell, and this make animators TRY to sell this style to them, because they know that it raises the chance of being picked up, so the show can be greenlighted.

Laika is backed by the biggest(?) shoe company in the fucking world.
They could release 10 fucking Kubos and it still wouldn't leave a dent in their wallet.
Laika is basically one big passion project, which I genuinely respect.
>>85889784
CAN'T DOUSE THE MOUSE
>>85892270
This is the dumbest shit... An investor doesn't give away their money, they want to get a return on it and make a profit. Chances are if they don't make that money back they'll lose their investors.
>>85892671
>blaming /co/
What? Do we really have enough people to actually affect a movie like that?
>>85894464
Not when the investor runs the company
I'm pretty sure this is on Laika
>>85889825
Laika knows they'll never be huge. They're not amazing to dethrone Dreamworks or even be like Blue Sky. Stop-motion is very expensive, time consuming, and rarely does it make its profit back much. They're pretty much in it for the art and recognition rather than money. If they wanted money, they'd make their films different in several ones.
>>85890042
Marketing matters. You wal into it expecting trash horror and come out happy with something different
>>85892671
/co/ is not a good way to judge the popularity of cartoons and animated films. There are many works that are popular but don't get discussed here much because they do not appeal to the type of viewers that visit this board. Heck, Moana comes out in less than 5 months and we still don't discuss it much despite it being a Disney Princess film.
>>85894525
While I don't agree with him that some cartoon forum on a Korean drawing pad could do any effective damage to a movie I do have to agree with him about how we treat animated films here
>Something that is awful gets /co/s attention and will get daily threads about it even though we all know it's gonna be shit and don't even like it
>something that is good gets maybe one thread every two days and the thread always dies before it reaches 40 posters
/co/ always bitches about a lack of action cartoons in America but when there's a cartoon from France with action in it, Last Man, tries to come to America on Netflix /co/ couldn't give a lesser fuck
The first thread to actually get anyone's attention was one where one of the female MC was a chibi with big tits and it was a gif of those tits bouncing
>>85889784
Disney should be broken up. If we had a government that did it's job it would have been long ago.
>>85892473
Disney is a criminal cartel, so yes.
