Is the cryengine really the best choice to make an animated movie on? Sure it looks impressive but what about shit like moving/facial animations? Or organic looking textures.

Eh this is 40k so they are probably going to be covered head to toe in power armor and purity seals

No, that'd be ridiculously expensive, prone to being very bad, and very limited in scope. Gaunt's Ghosts is the way to go; it'd be about as expensive as your average war film with a bit of CGI for Ork/Daemon/Space Marine scenes.
