There's nothing you can do in an animated Superman origin that hasn't already been done in the first three episodes of The Animated Series. That origin is already pretty much perfect.

They compensate by giving him a ton of movies. Unbound, All Star, Vs The Elite, Apocalypse (it was more of a Superman and Supergirl movie than a team up movie, desu; also, dat hot Barda and Wondy vs Furies fight scene), Public Enemies, Doomsday and so many others. Superman's usually an important figure in the Justice League films, too. Giving GL, Flash and Wondy their own movie for a change was simply their way of giving them SOMETHING. Superman and Batman have too many movies already, and Batman will keep getting movies because he's the more popular of the two.

Compared to the comic, it was a rushed and shallow adaptation. Mera and Arthur's relationship is ridiculously rushed and forced, his mother was barely a factor in the story that makes you wonder why was she even there, Ocean Master was over the top evil without the sympathetic or believable reasons for fighting the surface world and Black Manta was wasted on this movie. Outside of the fight scenes and Hal making that gloriously stupid vaccuum cleaning robot construct. The rest of the movie was pretty bad.
