The OC thread we had yesterday was preemptively deleted for some reason.
Since the last one never actually ended naturally, here's a new one.
Post your characters and maybe talk a bit about them. Ask each other questions! World-build! Maybe even give each other fanart!
HAVE A GOOD TIME.

What is your opinion on the design of this character? What needs work? What would YOU change?
>>85786175

>>85787347
Make it more androgynous. The head is too round, make it more slick.
>>85787347
Something about the lack of a nose and the head shape is a little unnerving to me, but the rest is endearing.
>>85787347
top of the head is very round, giving me an impression that without the hat she will look like one of those middle-aged balding dudes with a ring of hair
but the hat mostly covers it up
don't know honestly how i'd make the design different
possiblyclawsthicker eyebrowsand asmall fluffy tail like a deer
but thats a personal preference im not an expert in character design
>>85787661
Would you add a chin, or at least a point at the bottom of the head to curb the roundness, or something else? Also, more androgynous- that's interesting. Any particular reason behind it, or just personal preference?
>>85787738
Too wide?
>>85787759
Claws could be interesting for her. Also, she has a goofy looking tuft of hair on top of her head, which is why she wears the hat.
Any other thoughts on the design? I'm generally curious.
>>85788519
Play around with the head shape, you can perhaps make it shape like an arrow. The reason for my suggestion for going more androgynous is because the head and body seem incoherent. I think it will make the character more organic if you go with that approach.
>>85788842
A few other head shapes
>>85789565
Bottom right is quite interesting.
>>85789565
I like the top right one, try to draw her her with a chin. Maybe it will help.
>>85789565
bottom right is more interesting stylistically in my opinion
>>85787347
The head doesn't really fit the body. Either make the body more cartoony, or the head more human.
And here's some of Vivian, another character of mine. Thoughts?I'm waiting for others to show off their OCs, it's part of the fun of these threads

She's big boned. I like her. She could do well without the gloves. Too similiar to Dexter's mom.
This character is a minor antagonist in a space opera setting; she's a Russo-mongolian mercenary with cybernetic arms that give her enhanced strength, and a neural implant that inhibits pain.
I can't draw mechanical parts for shit though so I can't really finish the design.
>>85790565
For mechanical parts, I'd either streamline and make them more organic looking, or study how others draw them.
I think that the implant is something that you could really push, especially as a weakness later on.
>>85790179

>>85790179
Here are my thoughts.
Vivian is fucking adorable.
>>85791537
Oh my goodness. She looks great in your style!
Hope this thread sticks around till i can draw my OCs myself, so maybe...2 years give or take.
Reposting my beaver gril from the last thread. Might try to draw more before this thread goes down and post it.
I need to dig out my sketchbook sometime tonight. I had an idea for a super-villain-in-training who had no actual super powers, but instead survived super villain boot camp by becoming besties with some of the villains, and becoming useful to the rest of them.
>>85791854
theres also VERY MINIMAL LORE if anyone wants to actually hear about the characters/setting
I already posted these two good boys on the last two threads, so hi again. He makes self-help/instructional VHS tapes with the help of his puppet pals and blahblahblah.
>>85791899
Don't say anything about the hands, I already know
>>85791912
And that's it, I'm working on a proper ref sheet for them tonight. Hopefully it'll show off their personality better, even though I'm not 100% how I want to portray the bear puppet yet haha
I won't let Jim die as he has got a few drawings from the draw thread.
I was there in the beanface thread where he was drawn. I wrote a few stories about him and the artist liked it alot, haven't heard from him since.
I'll post the others too.

>>85792106
>There is a boy with a gator tail, but he was scrapped for lore purposes.
you monster! alligators are awesome.
>>85795246
There He Is on the left, the reason he was scrapped is because all people have animal tails, but only animals on the chinese zodiac,Each race has a few strengths and weaknesses.
So the antagonists from something I've been working are basically a horde plant monsters, and I'd like some more ideas on what else I could have in there. Bonus points if it's not based off something carnivorous.
Quick list of what I have so far:
>A dandelion hydra
>A giant tree golem
>A shapeshifting mass of kudzu vines
>Seeds that link together to form structures
>Tulip not-xenomorphs
>Exploding pinecone suicide bombers

As for Villains, There Was an Idea of having a shadowy figure known as the monkey king. But we do have Jim's rival Dan. An arrogant pretty-boy dragon-tail, he's quite skilled at fighting and using dragon-tail abilities. but his pride makes him gullible.
As for his look was a fusion of Silver(Pokemon) And Jack Spicer. I think his look would benefit from a poker aesthetic.

I want to write about a character that has a super-esque form (something that gives 'em a power boost for a limited time, but different than your DBZ shit). But I know that's your average, cringy, uninspired, character ability.
How do I make it work?
>>85798671
Make it so he only changes under extreme stress, and have him go totally apeshit when he goes super, a lá Hulk
>>85798671
It could be interesting to have a sort of "superhero on a timer" angle, which is something that I don't see often, and is something you could play up. They may have to plan their day around exactly what time they should go super. That plan could occasionally be interrupted. Or, you could create a dilemma by making them chose between helping in a seemingly smaller situation, or waiting to power up later for a potential larger threat.

Working Title:Canadian Furries
>This is the protagonist, BEATRIS MACLIVER or BEA
>Thick Scottish accent
>Chubby
>Braces
>Wears stupid shirts
>Lazy and apathetic
>Her family recently immigrated to Canada from Scotland
>Canada is perpetually stuck in the 1980s
>She will grow up to become prime minister
Haven't figured out any kind of actual storyline, but I've been thinking of some supporting Canadian/immigrant animal characters with stupid pun names, such as a French-Canadian loon and polar bear duo named CLAIRE DE LA LUNE and BERNADETTE POIRER and an as-of-yet unnamed, undercover KGB agent stout.Excuse my poor art skills, I'm an amateur who barely practises.

>>85798856
I feel like she's one of those 50s housewives who acts really weird because she stays at home most of the time. However, she talks regularly with other skelly housewives, who are batty in their own way, and does fit in with that crowd with her quirks.
She seems like the sort that cares for other people (i.e family and friends) but has no qualms about harming herself in silly ways just to ease boredomI can see her pulling some of her bones out of her body and aiming around stuff with it like a gun, or using them as drumsticks- something like what old cartoons usually do with skeletons
She loves anything that compliments her vivid imagination. I imagine she hates being boxed in her house most of the time and has stories that usually lead her to doing silly antics.

>>85801752
I don't know if I have the original designs on me, a lot of stuff is packed up as I'm going to be moving soon, but I think I have a sketch from a year or two back saved on my computer that's still pretty close to the original designs.
>>85798447
>making OCs for lewd shit only to become invested in fluff
>>85801570
Okay here she is guys. (The other OC is basically just a black dog/church grim and wasn't sure how to redesign him) Sorry for not having a pic of her original design... the one I found on my computer was way more recent than I thought it was and was pretty far from her original design.
Anyway the basic story about her I think was that she was dead/a lich and was in training to become a reaper. Yeah. She went to reaper school heh. I was pretty heavily influenced by Grim Adventures at the time as well as a book called Ghost girl I think? Which about ghost school or something? It's been a while. But yeah don't say I didn't warn ya about her edginess!
>>85786153
All I've really got down for her is that she is the leader of some kind of resistance, and that her husband was a general for the government she's fighting against before he died. I'm thinker of naming her Elizabeth, but I'm not sure that name fits her look.

>>85798175

>>85798856
between this and monster girl gamu or whatever it's called I'm so fucking sick of thick skeleton girls.
I like thick girls, I like skeletons. It cheapens the purpose of being a skeleton if you have muscle mass on you. It just makes you some sort of shitty half-zombie instead of a true skeleton.
>>85804519
I will say, I honestly had no idea the game existed when I designed Vivian. I had seen one drawing of that skeleton before, but I thought it was a one off sort of thing.
>>85798918
>scared of ghosts
That's excellent.
>>85798967
I actually have no idea! It's just bones down there- it's only when shes puts on pants that she seems to fill them out.
>>85800409
This is interesting. I designed her to be fairly housewifey, though she doesn't have any immediate family, which makes her very lonely. Hence whey she spends so much time in the garden. And yes, she is somewhat boxed into her house- she can only travel about a mile away from her garden before she faints and falls apart.
>>85802113
Could be interesting to see what sort of training and classmates she has!
>>85803237
I feel like you could push this design further into something more distinct. Defined cheekbones, a unique hairstyle, some sort of pin for the tux. Alsoif you want to do heterochromia, that's fine, but blue and red are about the most common colors people use for it.
>>85804784
Are the pants hard as bone or does it feel like there's flesh underneath?
Hey, if the anon who had the creepy cutie from the pruned thread the other day is hanging around, a guy in /CTG/ drew this cute picture of her.
Figured ya deserve a fair shot at seeing it.
>>85804784
>I actually have no idea! It's just bones down there- it's only when shes puts on pants that she seems to fill them out.
Did the dead broad the bones belong to have that figure, or did she have have no butt and Vivian's spirit/consciousness just sorta magically fills them out?
Also I always forget, was the dead woman's name Vivian and that's where Vivian gets her name because she saw it on like a mailbox or something, or is it something else?
This is about what I have for what Vivian looked like when she was alive, though it's subject to change.
>>85806313
Feels like flesh when shes wearing pants.
>>85806314
Yes, they are both named Vivian. While V2 is an entirely new person, she assumed that the garden and property that she woke up in were hers. She figured that her name must be Vivian because that's who the letters in the mailbox she thinks shes owns were addressed to.
>>85807842
What if you cut a hole in the pants while she's wearing them? Would you see skin or bones?
I made this, he's supposed to be a Ice villian, he shoots out liquid nitrogen out of his gauntlets, kind of like the jet setting on a hose. I need a cool name for him.
>>85808026
I don't have a name suggestion, but I want to know why he looks so surprised.
>>85808427
That's just how his mask is. He's eternally surprised
Hello
In this thread I can requests drawings of my oc's (original characters)
I'm trying to design a character based around a magic artifact that causes her shadow to have it's own personality. Do you think going Egyptian Or Roman/Greek would work better? I envisioned the character as Egyptian, but it would be kinda fun for the Egyptian person to not get the Egyptian artifact, y'know?
>>85809151
If she's modern you could honestly make her anything (Egyptian farmer, archaeologist, someone who ran across it in a museum, etc.)
>>85809151
I know about Greek legends than Egyptian ones, but it feels more likely for the artifact to be Greek related. Maybe the Greeks gods put the artifact where the character could find it just to mess with her.
Island of Doctor Moreau meets Weapon X meet Apocalypse Now. Using the genetic code of captured Silver Age hero Kimera, a clandestine organization has created super-soldiers with enhanced abilities attributed to animals. The training is gruelling and deadly, with low survival rate. They are stationed on a remote island in the pacific, the facilities discreetly hidden among the abundant jungle and dormant volcano. There is not escape from the island, assets that have left have never returned, except for one.
There is an uprising by some of the supersoldiers, their leader the first of the Super Soldier kind, a hyper intelligent ape-man named Odysseus. He attributes himself as a superior being and seeks to take the island and Kimera as his own.
Story focuses on an assembled group of supersoldier rebels in Odysseus's regime and the squad sent to the island to recover Kimera and any cooperative assets.
I call it The Fittest.
>>85809462
That's true. I guess the artifact could end up anywhere.
>>85810244
I'm trying to make her more as a superhero so I don't want it to just be gods fucking with her. Unless the idea is the shadow was some girl that one of the gods (Nox/Nyx maybe, if Greco Roman?) trapped (permanently) inside the artifact for being a cheeky bitch.
>>85810710
Do you have an Idea for the artifacts already? If not you could use a mask of one of the Egyptian gods.
Recently I got into a superhero kick and made this hobo hero.
I imagine him being a mix between Batman and Mumen Rider, in that he's brooding and menacing but ultimately useless.
>>85810828
I was thinking something small and wearable, like a bracelet, ring, or amulet. So it's active all the time. But rings are overplayed because of the lanterns, so probably a bracelet?

The setting is a world where the various pantheons of the gods of old (which would be user made and developed) and humans coexist, along with famous mythological monsters.
He appears to be about 17 when he's actually 1700, he's like a demigod or something and they age weird.
Nowadays he's just a sour cunt who dreams about returning to the forge.

Okay okay I got ya.
So is this girlboy fat, skinny, lumpy, thick hipped, or something else?Honestly it doesn't matter to me. I'm just taking the first thing people say and making a character from it.
Most of these are just imitations or fetish fueled. No wonder 99.95% of internet people never reach professional status

Either main character or the mentor.
I'm leaning more towards main character though because then the first user prompt would be making a godly weapon or something, and I think that'd be fun for the audience.

He only cant move his legs, so I think he'd be fine with that. The reason they didn't let him forge things after the accident is because he hadn't fully healed, like, to a manageable state.
The first few updates of the comic would be about his first day back on the job, if he were to be the hero.
A plan I have for him regardless of role would be that he crafts himself some sort of golem that he would use to get around Master Blaster style

He was a flamboyant black man in all white skintight sparkling suit who fired lasers from his fingers (possibly similar to prism in design)

Though about giving him a sassy black female sidekick named afro-ditie

I'm writing a comic about a guy who gets cursed to walk through time until he dies, still ages normally though. Obviously his time travel is from magic but can someone tell me if this is a good idea for scientific time travel?
When you take a photo, it's light bouncing off something and getting trapped. You can never take the same picture twice irl because even if you take something in rapid succession, the moment is already gone, something will be a lil different. So in this story, technological non-magical time travel is done with time energy, and one way of extracting it is through photographs.
TLDR; Every time you take a photo, time energy is captured. Extract it and get enough energy and you can make a portal or some shit.
>>85821368
Wat
>>85821427
Photography is light bouncing off shit
You can never take the same photo twice because it's a new type of light and something will be a little different
In my story when you take a photo, time energy is captured
>>85821527
But how does that relate to magic or a guy walking through time?
>>85821592
It doesn't, the photograph thing is a way to time travel without magic in that universe.
With the protagonist's curse, it's just magic, ain't gotta explain shit.
But for the same universe, if I do a story down the line, since all my stories take place in the same universe, would my idea work for technological time travel?
If you Ted Cruz Trap people are still here, I'm still working on it. It's coming out horrifying. My wife asked me "Why are you drawing a Transvestite Ted Cruz on your screen?"

It's kind of tricky to just 'make an OC.' For me at least, I create OCs to either fulfill designs that I have in my head, or to fit a particular story or personality.
They can also change or develop over time as needed before you settle. Most of my characters look way different than they did in my first pass on them.

Colors so I can doodle her?
>>85787347
The simplistic style of the head doesn't fit the more detailed anatomy of the rest of the body at all.
The body should be drastically smaller relative to the size of the head and far more simplified (less curvy, less adult-like, more simplified, tubular arms/legs). Either that, or the head needs a complete overhaul from the current style.

She's super cute!
A RUSSIAN MOTH GIRL NAMED NADIA
I've been playing around with the origin story and design of this character for a few years, but never found something I was satisfied with.
Basically, he starts out as a kid who spends his days running around helping people, pretending to be a hero like the ones who explored and shaped his world in a previous era. He doesn't know who his parents are, and I'm still working on who would be his mentor or caretaker. It's around this time that he starts meeting his best friends and closest confidants.
>>85844501
As he grows older, he begins to realize that being a crowd-pleaser is hard in the modern era, and that he can't help everyone all the time. He keeps developing his acrobatic skill, perfect reflexes, increased stamina, etc. to the point where he's basically just a spider-less Spider-Man. Him and his friends go on adventures around the world and stuff.
Pffffffffffffffttttttttttttttttttt
Surrexit Allaway
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 160 pounds
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Accent: Scottish
Personality: Surrexit's high intelligence is due to her bookworm-like nature. She loves to read books and study about anything that strikes her fancy. She loves practicing her magic and improving on her wizard skills. She knows a variety of spells so far thanks to her schooling and she even came up with a few spells herself. She also loves to sing, often practicing during breaks from reading and studying. Though her obsession with studying can make her go in a frenzy whenever she tries to solve a rather difficult problem or mystery about the past. Her relentlessness in these manic moments can lead to many sleepless nights, making her insane behavior even worse. Surrexit can even get a bit frisky to get her way, using magic to temporarily increase her bust and hip size to seduce.
Powers: Pryokinesis, Telekinesis, various spells, psychokinesis, telepathy, psychic aura, teleportation, fire absorption, fire breath, fire generation, fire immunity, and self-combustion.

posting a minor antagonist from an ongoing fic:
.
This bishie fucker's a head nurse at a high-end hospital, kind of reclusive in his work, but all-around an affable guy as described by his coworkers. behind that, however, there lies a man with latent, violent desires and the means to enact them.
His ability lets him command a legion of miniature wooden imp-looking things (think Pikmin or Harvest) the size of a palm, designed to swarm. Their only means of attack is a small bite that turns the wound into tree wood; ineffectual on its own, but when a group gangs up on a single target, the victim can be turned into an unmoving plant abomination in seconds. The effect fades when the source of his magic is cut off, or just his death.

I guess I can burn out my retinas looking back on old work. This thread's been pleasant so it deserves a little bump anyway.
This is probably my oldest character, Mary. I don't remember how old I was when I did that blobby, GIMP-paths mess, and I kinda don't want to remember. It's weird looking at how much she's changed. Though in a good way, I suppose.
Gotta say, I kinda like Reese with that sharper kind of face. It's less cutesy and attractive maybe, but it somehow suits her. The mouth shape kinda gives the impression that maybe she's some kind of bird-thing, too, though I don't think you've ever disclosed what she actually is (or if you even know).

I'm digging the "grittiness" of your lines, especially in >>85863316 You've markedly improved since that first drawing. Why did you axe those characters?
>>85867642
That's quite a change! I don't know where the nose came from, but I love it! Has her personality changed as well, or just the look?
And yeah, I may start making Reese's features sharper than before. Part of her design is how much room there is on her face for expressions, which is something I haven't been taking advantage of, especially with the mouth.
Also,I hate coming off as deflective to comments, but as far as how tall and lanky she is, that's something I'd lime to keep. I actually chose that bodytype because it looks so strange with that head shape.
>>85868916
The nose just kind of developed over time. Though it sort of became semi-important when her father came into the picture, who also has that nose. Helps to visually connect her to at least one of her parents.
As for her personality, it's pretty much stayed the same. Kind, trusting, a bit naive but not really stupid. Just an all around sweetheart with good intentions. I've toyed with the idea that after a new outfit she got recently, she might develop some split-personality stuff and show a more self-absorbed side of her psyche, but I don't know if I'll ever go through with that. Might be a bit too night and day.
I actually really like Reese's lean figure, so you'll get no complaints from me on that front.
>>85863991
>people who willingly draw other people's OCs
you are a literal godsend
>>85869192
i like her bitchiness and i want her to step on my face
A while ago I took a very-very simplistic looking OC I made up as a kid (not pictured) as a template, and attempted to come up with a more "evolved", bigger-brained subspecies of it. Tried not to overdo the design, keeping it reasonably simple, but also adding individual traits. At first I tried to make the head more human-like with a flatter face, but that looked like shit, so instead of making their heads tall, I elongated them. I generally tried to avoid the "they're more intelligent so they have to look more like humans" stereotype.
They're highly intelligent alien explorer douchebags.
I realize I forgot to draw poop-holes.
>>85868916
>I'm digging the "grittiness" of your lines, especially in >>85863316 You've markedly improved since that first drawing.
Thanks! I've come to enjoy my messy style over the years. It can get pretty oversaturated at times though. It's both a pro and con since it invites the viewer to look through the composition, but it's immediate visual overload. Not sure how to feel about that to be honest...
>Why did you axe those characters?
I tend to recycle through older characters and rarely make new ones lest I really feel the necessity. For the hooded guy (name's Rag Hood) and the white-haired guy (name's Lucien), I never found a proper place for them in my current work. The characters I tend to draw the most are in a comic I've been working on. Must admit, I would like to revise the hooded guy. However, I already have a pretty bulky cast atm, lol.

>>>85812151.
>>85875811
Oh, sure!
One day in late summer/early fall, she woke up in a sunflower patch behind a house with a garden and greenhouse. Somehow, she knew that she owned this house and garden and that she was responsible for it's upkeep. She grabbed some clothes from clothesline, covering up a large crack on the back of her head with a hankercheif, but couldn't find anything to cover the break on one of her left ribs. She walked around front and saw her mailbox with a couple letters addressed to one Vivian Baumgarter. Since she figured that this was her house and therefore her mail, she assumed that that should be her name.
Personality-wise, she's bubbly and inquisitive, and has motherly tendencies towards her garden and other people. All she wants is to take care of others, which is difficult, because most are terrified/morbidly curious about her. She often overworks herself, putting the needs of others unhealthily far above her own. She also finds out that she can only travel about 2 miles away from her garden before passing out and falling apart.
She also discovers that the previous Vivian was not a good person. She was lonely and miserable, and did not enjoy caring for others. She was a traveling freelance journalist, and would often be away from the house for months at a time. Vivian feels responsible for righting her wrongs and fears becoming like her.
If I ever worked up the motivation or time to develop a webcomic, this is probably the character I'd do it with.
Work in progress development character for a comic idea, just a side character though. A race of thought bubble dot matrix printer people who convert the thoughts they see through the mindscape of the person they inhabit and create and document those findings into matter for the dreamscape. In my story idea, this group of scientist thought bubble people basically act like the wizard in the Oz series, less malicious and more OCD and meticulous though.
This one is called Dr. Cymk (pronounced simk I guess, kind of sounds Indian) for now until I come up with something better. When I make more of these guys I kind of want to adhere to a 1930's rubberhose style of proportions, which is why his hands are huge. I wanna have a lot of fun with their heads displaying their thoughts and the fact that they're made of/can make things out of ink. I feel as if there's a lot of visual promise in this concept.
Inspired by the likes of Hawkman & Hawkgirl, Cat-Man & Kitten, and the Dibnys, I've been working on creating a husband & wife superhero team that would fight crime in the swinging 60s -- at the height of the Silver Age.
I can't draw worth a damn, but it's a nice thing to daydream about -- young love kept fresh by frequent bouts of superheroism.
I wanted to make a vampire romance with a Nosferatu-style vampire but I'm a sucker for dorky monsters so my boy Gregory is an avid reader with a rich online life who hits up thrift/vintage/antique stores looking for toys and clothes that remind him of when he was a human back in the 70s-80s. Marigold's a young librarian who notices him coming in and checking out books in full disguise all the time.
One day, when someone drops a book near him, she sees him jump and he hangs in the air for just a couple seconds too long. He bolts when she approaches him to ask about it, but in his haste he leaves behind an armful of books that he desperately wants to read. She holds the stack hostage in exchange for a conversation. It turns out he lives in a local rundown Victorian mansion, mooching off of the neighbor's Wi-Fi and taking non-lethal amounts of human blood from the locals in the guise of mosquito bites.
My ultimate idea for the plot is that every fall he needs to go into full-on harvest mode and fill up on blood to last him the winter while he hibernates, and if he falls short of the amount he needs by the winter solstice a truly monstrous side will take him over and kill indiscriminately to get the rest. In a usual year this means that he's spending all of his free time in the fall desperately scrounging it up before falling asleep for the winter, missing out on a full half of the year in the process. A romance blossoms between the gleefully morbid Marigold and the hesitant shut-in Gregory, and she promises that she'll help him find a reliable, ethical source for the blood so that she can save autumn for him.

In her case, she can look like wathever she wants/needs to get her job done. The boney form is just the regular reaper "uniform"

a moth and an orc that do things
Some characters I posted drafts of years ago on /co/. Wanted to draw them again. Two-mouthed demon guy with his little one-eyed minion thing that has multiple arms.
I haven't given them names and I still don't really know how I want the demon guy to look.
I came here to draw lewds of qt OCs, but all of them are ugly.
>>85887813
Wrong thread.
>>85887663
That's some nice pencilwork anon. I like the designs. The two-mouth demon looks like a real dickwad and the minion is cute. Post more sketches.

That's also the only character trait I have in mind. Some random sketches.

>>85898636
I've honestly got no idea. What do you all think she is?

>>85900407
She looks like a wander-esque alien. Except sexy and that isn't a hairball with legs.
>>85900407
While she's obviously not a bird, I'm still on the "avian-type-thing" train. I just always look at her and think she's covered in feathers. So, some kind of feathered humanoid alien thing is my best guess.

My favorite guesses so far have been a beakless bird or a sasquatch.
Some aliens doodled at work. Pretty much all I have for them right now is that they look all the same to humans, but are distinct to each other due to something we can't sense (i.e. pheromones etc.)

I've been trying to elaborate a style for how I want my characters to look. How have all you been trying to get your own "look"? I'm trying to elaborate on that Jet Set Radio look.
>>85904837
Dang thats a big coincidence.
Your lilly/cat is pretty cute too.
>>85903356

doing some designs for a cartoon project, what do you think i should change? kinda want it to look as crisp as possible but im not sure what to do differently, feels like im playing it too safe with my current method
>>85900407
I could easily see her as some kind of monkeys or primate.
She looks like some kind of character we'd have in Foster Home for imaginary friends or Gumball.
>>85904936
I don't know that I really try for a "look" so much as it's a byproduct of what I've practiced and what feels natural.
>>85907875
Definitely work on your line weights. Everything you have right now is one thickness, and even just tapering the ends of certain lines to a point can make a world of difference.
>>85908184

>Imagining a figure sitting all sidescroller like at the edge of a lake, with its reflection mirrored in the lake's surface
>Suddenly the figure gets up, but the reflection stays seated for a moment longer, and then they both start running
>The view starts change, playing with the fact that it's a 2D view of mirrored characters; the bottom flips and now they're both upright; it flips and now they're running in opposite directions; etc.
>More stuff like that
>At the end, their put on the same plane running towards each other, hands outstretched, with a dolly zoom conserving the sense of movement while keeping their hands apart
>The screen goes black just as they're about to touch
If could animate I would. Since it's "duality" it's an Asian chick with a boyish haircut and loose-fitting clothes, and a black dude with a form-fitting, bell-bottomed jump-suit and an androgynous face/bald head like them African models what look stunning.

>>85915261
I was thinking of making his backstory a little more accurate until I remembered that it's a fucking comic book, who gives a shit?
I want to capture a lot of that lighthearted, soft sci-fi fun and adventure from old Marvel comics. Really, a running theme here is the idea that Billy/Blue Lightning is bringing that sort of idealism and heroism back to a world that's generally gone cynical and pessimist.
>>85888907
You got any backstory on these characters? I really like them. The contrast of the super cute minion and the creepy demon is nice.
>>85893436
Aw thanks. I used to only draw edgy things, but as of lately I've wanted to attempt something a bit more fluffy/cute instead..
>>85915412
In terms of backstory I don't really have much, but you always do end up making up stuff when you draw certain characters, so... I figure the demon guy summoned the minion at some point, wanting a much cooler looking henchman-kind of monster, but got a cutesy looking thing that's mostly useless instead. The minion is super clingy and his only friend.
Just recently got SAI and I'm still learnig how to use it. "Rendering" is pretty tough.

Storyboard Pro. When you draw it looks like that but when you export, it becomes anti-aliased. I kind of like them pixel-y, so I have to print screen it every time to get it to look like that.

Rendering is fairly tricky, especially if you're going for realism. I'd look into speedpaints on youtube- Aaron Blaise has some good ones. I'd also look at the material cylinder/sphere challenge. Templates can be found for those online.

>>85932349
You can't say that and not tell us what it is, man
So, here's wendell. A 7 year old badger with the ability to control sound.
His story is pretty damn long, but here goes. *Gasp*
First, some context.
He is one of only 10 people known to control one of the 10 elements of nature (yes, in his world there are 10 elements fuck you): Wind, water, earth, fire, dark, light, sound, electricity, ice, and plant. These people are referred to as "elementals". He has an older 17 year old brother who has the ability to control plants, and an older 18 year old sister who can control ice.
He lives with his siblings in a rural part of his town. Their parents died not too long ago for reasons that are too complicated for me to explain in this post. They have no jobs and live solely off of the land.
One day, however, a mysterious heatwave hits the town that hasn't gone away for weeks. Being plant and ice elementals, Wendell's brother and sister are both heavily affected by this heatwave. Their health is negatively impacted to the point where they are both bedridden and can barely breathe or speak.
Wendell knows he can't do anything on his own to help his brother and sister. His musical skills are completely useless. So, he decides to set out and find other elementals to help him to stop the heatwave and save his brother and sister.
There are other story lines for other characters I've made, so I might share them, too.
Also, typing on a cellphone sucks. Typing this at 5 AM doesn't help much, either, I guess.
>>85932988
Is Sound really an element for nature? Cause in my world, we have the Eight Element Stones that were created by the Universe Gods that makes up everything in existence. The element stones had since then causes many wars to struck out to obtain it's powers. As of now the humans has obtain these stones and kept them safe while using them to power their heroes and machines. Well one of them at least is use for powering up machines.
So tell me, why is there a Nature Element for sound?
>>85932988
>sound elemental
he better be a musician or that's just a waste of potential
>>85933131
>why is there a Nature Element for sound?
Sound is actually a very important part of nature like every other element. Many creatures rely heavily on sound to survive.
>>85933249
>Wendell knows he can't do anything on his own to help his brother and sister. His musical skills are completely useless.
He does like to utilize his musical talent, but in his current situation, it's pretty much useless.
>>85904936
Speaking of which. not really sure how to talk about my OC's for my stuff.
I was trying for a while to make a sci-fi animation/comic about life set on a large scale space ship that earth evacuated onto after a global threat plagues it. Basically, unbeknownst to earth, there already was a sort of UN type deal going on in space that can only let a society advance and join it's ranks if they rise to a certain maturity and evolve. But unfortunately earth kinda just has to join now.
Do you think a story about a girl with Gatling guns for arms wolud be interesting?
Her story would be that after an accident where she lost her arms and the doctors replaced them with machine guns prosthetics instead of regular ones by mistake.
Her name is Gabriela Guerra but also called gatlin girl.
( Batman villain name creating process )
Quick thing featuring my villain and kid. I normally draw the same way when I use all my programs so I kind of wanted to try a different approach to sketching and see what would happen if I held the pen different and did strokes differently while still using the same brush.
