Another episode of the Nick Animation Podcast is up featuring Jorge Gutierrez who created Book of Life and El Tigre:

>It was the mighty Popeye who taught EL TIGRE: THE ADVENTURES OF MANNY RIVERA creator Jorge R. Gutierrez that “If you fight people bigger than you, for something greater than you, you can win the girl of your dreams!” Jorge's fight for his artistic vision has been a heroic journey too. From his work on MAD to THE BOOK OF LIFE, Jorge discusses why staying true to yourself, your culture and heeding the advice of a “good Mexican woman” are the keys to success!
Making a thread because it's a pretty good listen for those interested in animation or just looking for a good life story, these podcasts have been consistently good, and I'm curious as to what other people might listen to.

One of these things is not like the others.

Oh shit, El Tigre.
I loved that show, and pretty much most anything designed by Gutierrez, it's all mexican pop art in the best way possible. I was pleasantly surprised how well his style translated to 3D with the Book of Life.
My favorite story is about his general granddad and construction worker dad and how Gutierrez had the choice between a good (construction) or evil (military) future.
I'm working right now, but I really will listen to this when I get off.
