Is anyone else a bit hyped for this movie?

It looks fun.

It's a movie literally built around one of my biggest pet peeves about big budget, main stream CGI animated films.

So no, not at all.
>>
I refuse to be hyped until I get a confirmation that the actors are the ones singing.
>>
>>85715703
>want to fug the porcupine and the pig milf

The movie itself looks generic as fuck.
>>
I imagine it'll be a success with kids. I'm personally not going to see it, but I imagine it will do well.
>>
>>85715703
Hell no,
Using real songs in movies has always annoyed me and I know I would hurt myself If I tried watching this.

Not at all.
>>
I've said it before and I'll say it again, this looks like a 2 hour ad for shit music.
>>
>>85716037
I actually found that kind of interesting. It's not often that you see an animated film that focuses on more than just one character's arc. I applaud the film for taking that angle.

That doesn't make up for the rest of the movie, sadly.
>>
>>85716971

this better not make more money than zootopia

but its americal idol with animals, so it will
>>
>>85718828
It's marketing to kids. Most kids I know go to the movies with whichever parent is available, so they have to get tickets for the kid AND themselves. Combine that with the teens and young adults who are interested, and it just might.
>>
>>85715703
so is illumination just going to pump out the most cliche filled bottom of the barrel story lines from now on.
>>
>>85719738
They've realized that being creative doesn't give them money, only slapstick and mom memes can give them money.
>>
>March

>December
I want to FUCK that porcupine.

>"how about we make a movie about a bunch of characters who are all trying to make it big against the odds"
That's stupid

>>
>>85720904
It'a not based on sing, it's based on the porcupine character. And honestly, my confidence in my writing is way below average. I can at least try, though.
>>
Illumination films are a fun study in seeing how the average moviegoer will throw money at the most manufactured cliche animated movie. It helps that they have a ridiculously effective marketing campaign. Any other studio churning the same crap would fall flat on its face.
Still, I expect Sing, to be a huge hit and become a franchise where each film focuses on a new group of characters. Essentially every season of American Idol.

Examples
Mordecai and Rigby: You're a Friend of Mine - Clarence Clemons and Jackson Browne
Dipper and Mabel: I'm Coming Home - Beeb Birtles and Graeme Goble
Anna: To the Moon and Back - Savage Garden
Star: Under Fire - Jackie
Marco: Misplaced Love - Rupert Hine
Steven: Better - The Screaming Jets
Lum: O.C.O.E. (Official Cat of the Eighties) - Pages

>Been one hell of a day.
>Spent the last few hours making phone calls, organizing tour events...
>Even decided to call my mother.
>Told me some story about running into an old friend at the grocery store.
"Yeah that's great. Listen, I gotta get to sleep, I'll talk later."
>I don't even remember who she was talking about.
>Nor do I care.
>Finally get settled into bed.
>This is the only solace I have from this shitpile of a job nowadays.
>Close my eyes, wait for sleep to take me.
>...
>I hear music.
>The fuck.
>Get out of get and put my ear to the connecting door to the next room.
>Someone's playing fucking guitar.
>At midnight.
>Knock knock knock.
"Hey, some of us are trying to sleep, here!"
>No response.
>Just more guitar, song sounds like a waltz.
>I'm ready to call the front desk when I hear it.
>Now they're singing.
>If I have to break down this fucking-
Are you lonesome tonight?
Do you miss me tonight?
Are you sorry we drifted apart?
>...
>Um.
Does your memory stray
To a brighter sunny day
When I kissed you and called you sweetheart?
>Can't move.
>Just stand and listen.
Do the chairs in your parlor seem empty and bare?
Do you gaze at your doorstep and picture me there?
Is your heart filled with pain,
Shall I come back again?
Tell me dear, are you lonesome tonight?
>Guitar continues.
>She's humming now.
>Find myself sitting up against the door, just listening.
>Why do I suddenly feel...conflicted?
>Furthermore, why the fuck is the voice of an angel coming from the room next door.
>I didn't even know it was booked.
>Don't have much time to speculate before my eyes drift shut.

Actually I think the movie looks rather original, sure a shit ton of talking animal movies have singing in it but have they ever went as far as to make a movie based around that premise? A few interviews I've read with the writers have said that the film will have 85ish songs ranging from 1940-Present, so its not like its going to be nothing but current pop shit.
>>
>>85715703
It looks like it's got some neat ideas. I agree with >>85717291 about the multiple competing protagonists.
Heck I'm even curious about what will happen to Gorilla boy's relationship with his father and Pig Lady to her husband imagine if they had the guts to have her walk out on her husband at the end of the movie.

The movie is called SING but the only people with real chops are McFarlane and Egerton, and from the trailer I can already tell Egerton is autotuned to hell and back.

>>85715821
It most likely is, but only in the sense that the sounds going into the engineering booth originally came from the actors. If they felt they had to tune Egerton's performance into a goddamn vocaloid performance you can bet your ass everyone else is worse.

Maybe they won't touch McFarlane's vocals but I doubt it.

Fuck you, Illumination. You're contributing to the death of one of my favorite things in the world.

>Because he's a fucking tiger and doesn't want to break my arm.
>"Maybe sleep early tonight. Get some ear plugs if necessary."
>Where the hell am I gonna find ear plugs.
>Whatever, I'm at least going to bed earlier.
>Maybe I'll fall asleep before she sings again,
>Assuming it's a nightly thing.
>"Hey, before you go..."
>Tiger slides some huge boots my way.
>"Spike left those in her dressing room."
>Spike wears these?
>They look like something a lumberjack would wear.
>"Do me a solid and just drop those off by her hotel room, alright?"
>Shrug.
>Might as well, Tiger worked his ass off today.
>So did I, but he wasn't the one who got an extra hour of sleep.
>Grab the boots.
>Christ they're heavy.
"Where's she staying again?"
>"Room 303."
"Why not a suite? She's a celebrity after all."
>"Have you met her? She's actually really humble."
>Great.
>Don't really care.
>Although, it did occur to me that I've been so busy with PR that I haven't gotten to meet Spike yet.
>Let alone SEE her.
>Whatever.
>Say our goodbyes and I drop by room 303.
>Knock Knock Knock.
"Uh, Spike?"
>Is that seriously her real name?
>High school must've been tough.
>No answer.
>Fuck it, leave them in front of her door.
>Finally time for bed.
>Thankfully room is nearby.
>Good ol' 304.
>...
>Holy shit.

This was my first reaction to the trailer. Also, this looks like it's going to be Every Pop Song You Got Sick of Hearing in Every Other Comedy Over the Past Five Years: The Movie, so I'm also going to pass on it.

It was completely dead silent in the theatre I was at. It's a B-project film and it shows.

>Sitting by the door between our rooms.
>Listening intently.
>Mainly for the sound of a guitar.
>How fucking pathetic does that sound?
>I can't believe this is me right now.
>I'm a goddamn puddle just because of some bitch's voice.
>A very smooth...alluring voice...
>I need help.
>And sleep.
>Nearly midnight; no music yet.
>She might not even be here.
>She's probably out partying or doing something else celebrities do.
>Who fucking knows.
>All I know is that I'm getting tired.
>Screw it, I'll just rest my eyes for a few seconds.
>It's not like I'm gonna
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
>...
>Knock knock knock.
>I stir.
>The noise registers, and I look toward the front door.
>Hop up to check the peephole.
>Nothing.
>Knock knock knock.
>The connecting door.
>"'Scuse me?"
>Woman's voice.
>Australian accent.
>It's her.
>I didn't even hear her door open and close.
"Y-yeah?"
>Honestly a little startled.
>Didn't expect her to knock on MY door.
>Honestly didn't expect to hear from her at all during this shitfest.
>"Did you happen to see anyone put some boots outside my room?"
"Yeah, uh, that was me. Said you left them in your dressing room."
>Felt weird not introducing myself properly.
>Or shaking hands.
"Oh. Well, thanks, I suppose. You one of those PR blokes?"
>It's weird.
>I feel like I've heard her voice before.
>Not just last night, either.
>Speaking of...
"Yeah, that's me. Hey, were you...singing last night?"
>I can barely make out her cursing.
>"You could hear that? Sorry, it was sort of an in the moment thing, y'know?"
"I guess. How's everything so far?"
>Conversation-wise, it's going okay, but I'm prepared for it to go south at any moment.
>"Oh, it's bloody ripper, it is!"
>Groan.
>Again, feel like I've heard that before.
>"S'been so long since I've been to the states. Even then, only stayed in one place. This way, I get to see it all."
>I crack a smile.
>For some shitty popstar, she's not all that bad.

If by "music from 1940-Present" you mean "some boomer shit, some recent shit, and some pandering token bullshit from other time periods/genres" then yeah.
