>One of Marvel's longest running female lead books
>Main book ran 100 issues and sequel run lasted 25
>Massive fandom for a female lead all things considered
>Stories that felt right out of the Lee/Ditko era
>Good continuation of the Clone Saga that lead to Peter finally accepting responsibility for himself and his family all while still occasionally showing up as Spider-Man.

>Absolutely no trades outside of the first 8 issues.

Seriously, when is Marvel going to reprint this?
>>
When 616 gets another Spider-Marriage.
>>
>>85678108
Lol fuck you, have more Spider-Gwen.
>>
>>85678108
It's probably because Marvel realized that the MC2 universe was actually hurting long term brand possibilities. MC2 was a way around the sliding time scale and allowed an ending to characters that would never happen in the main line books.

A LOT of fans basically used the MC2 universe as the end point for a lot of characters. Especially once the OMD nonsense happened.

I'd also love a full reprint of the entire line, but it's looking unlikely.

This.

You can go straight from the end of the Clone Saga to reading Spider-Girl and have a perfect jumping off/end point for Peter Parker.

Mass media conglomerates HATE having situations like that pop up in their publishing story worlds. The adventures have to gone on forever, as long as the money keeps coming in.

I know your pain bro.

Look on the bright side, the old Batman TAS comic is finally getting a full reprint/trade run after 25+ years.

If it gets one, then hope springs eternal.
>>
>buy the Amazing and Spectacular trades
>find out the original series only got digests

>Spider-Gwen will probably get an omnibus before Spider-Girl
>Mayday will probably be forgotten again once Web Warriors ends (although one could say that's a blessing after how she's been treated since her return)
>>
It didn't sell great.
Mostly because "muh canon".
>>
>>85678108
>Main book ran 100 issues and sequel run lasted 25

To ever-diminishing sales.

>Massive fandom for a female lead all things considered

All things considered, that last run did no better than the 616 Spider-Girl run that followed it. Which was also cancelled.

>Absolutely no trades outside of the first 8 issues.

Because they didn't sell enough of those first 8 issues.

>Seriously, when is Marvel going to reprint this?

When there's demand. There's insufficient demand.

If you really are desperate to see this shit again and physically own trades, bug Brevoort about print on demand. They won't do it (because POD really isn't good enough yet), but at least you'll be reminding him she has fans.

Because I'm pretty sure he doesn't see your monthly threads here, anon.

Does the original run of trades, that are stupidly priced now, tell the whole story? for Spider-Girl I might be willing to collect them, over a few years to spread out the cost, but only if I get every issue.
>>
>>85679566
The regular ASG trades tell a nifty little "third" Clone Saga that does have a beginning, middle, and end, and hey, even Aunt May's ghost gets to kick ass in it
>>
>>85679659
Peter was affected by the Goblin formula and started going loopy like Osborn, he somehow uploads Norman's consciousness into his body with the help of Fury the Goblin Queen and then they use Mayday's clone, which was a symbiote hybrid, to merge all the Spider-family together into the Goblin God, they target Mary Jane and Benjy, but Mayday, Aunt May's ghost and Peter all have a mind duel with Osborn and beat the tar out of him.
>>
>>85679683
I think they got most of them. If you missed a few just torrent them or wait when Marvel releases them BUT I am positive original trades have all.

Is this such a concern?
I like it when stories can take place at vastly different parts in a single timeline and show the same character at different points in their life.

I liked that Batman Beyond's Bruce was a miserable jaded old man who alienated pretty much all of his closest allies, while BTAS/JLU has him adventuring with his team and fellow heroes. How he or any character ended countless years into the future doesn't invalidate their actions in the present.

Same with Marvel, in a sense.

>>
>>85678234
>Mass media conglomerates HATE having situations like that pop up in their publishing story worlds. The adventures have to gone on forever, as long as the money keeps coming in.

The one thing I hate about comics the most. Sometimes, when a hero's story is over, it just needs to be over.

I mean, Marvel seemed to have the right idea in Ultimate, where Peter's story ended and Miles Morales seemed to take up his role, but instead we now have Peter as Spider-Man and Miles as The Other Spider-Man. What point is a legacy character for if the original is still alive and kicking?
>>
>>85701205
Thats what attracted me to DC in the first place. THE sense of legacy gave some sense of closure, that there was actually lasting change of some sorts. The biggest example were the Flash family with like 3 or 4 generations worth of Flashes running around.

It was pretty cool. Then DC rebooted and removed their legacy, the biggest brand they ever created to make themselves distinct from Marvel. So I switched to Marvel ever since.

Now with DC doing rebirth and marvel being in a sorry state where they scared away their talent... the pendellum is swinging the other way unless marvel gets their shit together.
>>
>>85678108
the whole clone shit sucked ass. peter wasnt the real one and when you factor in real time in comics how long was the real one stuffed in the factory chimney stack thing?

also putting a hoodie on a guy in spandex doesnt make him more relatable to inner city youth

Wealth and fame? She's ignored. Good comics were her reward.
>>
>>85678128
See, on paper, Spider-Gwen should be able to get her own following just like Mayday did.

It's the Spider-Mythos drawn back to the start while constantly providing something new (again, on paper). Murdoch as the Kingpin and Frank as a Cop were great ideas.

It's also one universe in one title that should have been entirely self-contained but that didn't last for long.

Spider-Gwen is the title with the most missed potential in the world.

Yeah, Spider-Gwen really suffers from the fact that she was introduced in a multiversal crossover event, meaning she's doomed to forever be involved in more multiverse shit. If her book had been more self contained after Spider-Verse was over, she could have been okay. But now she's a Web Warrior, and she and the other Spider-Women hang out sometimes, and all that shit.
>>
>>85701302
But marvel is full of legacy heroes who have taken the mantle from the old guys
>>
>>85693493
Or probably merge the canons together. Rumor is Slott's rushing out a story that ties all his shit together so he can bugger off.
>>
>>85682687
Spider-Verse and Spider-Island aren't canon to the real Mayday that's why, just ask Frenz and DeFalco, they hinted the Mayday affected by the story was an alternate double
>>
Meh I hate pretty much anyone NOT peter parker with spider powers
Actually I hate and duplicate power version of existing super heroes it is a trope that should have stayed in the Golden Age
If every one is spiderman/hulk/ironman then the original is diminished

at least those are my thoughts
>>
>>85706002
>If her book had been more self contained after Spider-Verse was over, she could have been okay.

That's certainly a major problem. But I think the biggest problem, though, is just a bad creative team involved. Jason Latour is a terrible writer and Robbie Rodriguez is certifiably blind.

Conceptually, Spider-Gwen is a ton of fun. I really dig the whole punk rock element and like that, as a character, she's drastically different from 616 Gwen. But produced under those two, the book ranges from meh to genuinely bad.

If the character consistently had a good creative team, there is no doubt in my mind that the book COULD be excellent.
>>
>>85701725

I have read exactly one issue of this book. I'm assuming it was the first as it was all about Mayday discovering her powers (also the return of A goblin, but I'm not sure which one). I liked it, It was a great Spider Man story without Peter in the drivers seat. It was also a legacy character done right (even though she's a gril). When I read it I assumed it was just a great what if book, I didn't even realise there was a whole run. Now I'm happy this exists and I'm also really sad there are no trades.

The problem with Gwen was that Marvel decided she was a hit before she was. She was pushed in some shitty event book and before that was even done they where ready to make her the next big thing regardless of what the readers felt of her.

Mayday was a one shot character, very much like Peter whose one shot story got popular. There was fan demand there and so the character spun out. Spider Gwen was some creator pet that they refuse to let go.

If Marvel gave Mayday half the push they gave Gwen these days her book would be doing great.

>>85708128

It was at first. But people really took to her appearance and What If? and so she got her own series and her fans stuck by her the whole time.
>>
>>85708939
I got the feeling Marvel were banking on Spider-Gwen being a hit from the beginning.
>>
>>85686611
Volume 2's solicit just released yesterday dude.
>>
>>85706252
They put in enough clues to allow people to decide for themselves whether or not Spider-Verse's Mayday was the original, but Slott insisted that she was. It's like he needs his stories to matter and that the shit he pulled with Mayday wouldn't have mattered if she wasn't the same one from the Spider-Girl comics, so he left no room for personal interpretation.

Well that's my whole point. You can's just SAY a character is a hit out the gate. You have to endear them first. Nothing turns people off a character more than you insisting on them.

There was a Secret Wars tie-in last year called Renew Your Vows, focusing on another universe's Peter who was still married to MJ and had daughter with her called Annie May, who'd inherited his powers. There's going to be an ongoing series written by Gerry Conway, and MJ apparently develops spider powers as well.

And to be fair, the last thing we actually see if the baby being taken away. I'm still convinced that Mayday is being raised elsewhere, and still around, or was before OMD. All it would take would be Kaine to track her down, finding out she's alive, and return 4-5 year old May (roughly how much time has passed in-universe, right?) and things could be as they should. And I'm fucking sticking to this.

Aftershock and Raptor were great

Not only that but one of them is crippled from the beatdown forcing only one of the sisters to be the Ladyhawk. Later on Hobgoblin tries to make an alliance with a crime boss who turns out to be their father.

Well yeah, eventually, but I think it's cute when a girl kisses the tip.

How old would he be at this point?

Or does the version of the Goblin Serum that he took retard the aging process?

Probably in his late 50s. He was around his late 30s to early 40s when he became the Hobgoblin. The Goblin serum probably kept him fit and at peak health.

>but hate the colors.
Its because its a shit scan. The digital pages are much, much nicer looking.

Grab them here: >>85743548

Ditto, a lot of Mayfags wanted Normie and May but I fucking loved him ending up with Raptor necause it made tons of sense and rhey were a hit couple.

He was never going to end up with May, she's too young for him and even if you could argue that he saw her more than a little sister he fell hard and fast for Brenda.

I feel like he's the Slade of the Marvel Universe in terms of cool and badass factors that is.

Working on ways to make a working mutant/inhuman Cyclops clone to make him fuck teenage Jean

He needs to make him extra-fast to avoid Jean making him gay before he's in

Screw Spider-Gwen, I'd like to see Mayday meet and/or date Miles.
>>
>>85762488
Miles isn't man(or old) enough for May.

He could probably get along with Felicity, though...
>>
>>85678128
Would rather have her over Silk.
>>
>>85725014
Why do all female cosplayers have phat asses? Not complaining, mind you.
>>
>>85762552
Wasn't he aged up with Secret wars to 15/16? So they'd be about the same age.
>>
>>85762664
May is last year of High School now
>>
>>85762690
Only a year or two older than him, then. Certainly closer to his age than Gwen, surely?
>>
>>85701820
God this.
I wanted a universe where everything was different and they could do whatever they want without any multi book ramifications to worry about.

Do dudes love Spider-Girl likes bitches love Spider-Man?
>>
>>85740966
You sound like those "I teleport behind you and unleash my katana" retards.
>>
>>85763364
Yeah, his fantasies about date-raping a (albeit fictional) teenage girl is really not what I ordered for a Spider-Girl thread.
>>
>>85763321
Dudes will fuck mostly anything so it's not the same thing. No sane man would turn Spider-Woman down.
>>

>He was around his late 30s to early 40s when he became the Hobgoblin.

Oh, I always thought he was older.

Must be the white hair, and the beard that he eventually grew.
>>
>>85763321
She has several love interests throughout the series.
>>
>>85678108

Defalco is one of only 4 writers who should be allowed to write Spider-Man.
>>
>>85763625

Kingsley's age is always a wacky subject because in his early appearances his hair was brown. Then for Hobgoblin Returns it was white. Then blonde for Goblins at the Gate. Then back to white for Spider-Girl and Amazing Spider-Man.

He's obviously younger than Norman, but older than Harry.
>>
>>85739908
Dark Devil was, an interesting idea that kind of ended up being dumb fun.
>>
What I like a lot about Spider-Girl is that it doesn't have the bloated shared universe that the mainstream has.
>>
>>85765576
This, and I hate the fact that DeFalco didn’t give us a proper story about the Parkers finding out that he was Ben's son.

I would have taken that over the April thing.

The issue with Aftershock and Electro is one of my favourites.
