I think it's all quite a stretch. The only reason as to why blueish gems are diplomats/aristocrats is because they usually serve under Blue Diamond, who seems to control that aspect of gem society.

A more likely theory is that gem placement affects personality:

i think the real elephant in the room for fusions is that they must have control of their forms just like any gem does. they change themselves over time. sardonyx wouldn't have been a talk-show a millenium before TV existed. and this mutability of form could extend pretty far, for both gems and their fusions. we've always seen them make just small adjustments, and maybe that's all the can do at a time (although i doubt even that), but i doubt there's actually a 'template' they're bound to (why would it be hominid?) and they've got a long time to make cumulative adjustments which would bring them to probably any form they could desire.

once steven gets his growth spurt (and turns into Murdercock The Second), would Smokey still be as perfectly spherical? of course not, because it's about the constituent gems *body image*, not their 'bodies' which are just projections anyway.

rose and amythests weird baby-mode regression during Gregs time never gets explained, does it? they were both basically identical to present day forms hundreds of years ago, then for some reason around 20 years ago they were both looking significantly younger, then they at some point went back to normal. and, critical for amys whole 'overcooked run' hangup, she was significantly smaller back then! so, she got (relatively) hueg once already in her life, what's to stop her again?

(probably density, is the answer, but it would be nice to have that more concretely explained somewhere. like have amy get hueg again, as big as the temple fusion, and the wind blows her over. anyway she can fight effectively as her luchador form, so, and maybe it would take several reformations to gradually get there, i don't see why she couldn't be making herself at least probably as big as jasper.)

They were supposed to be a full coherent team, they would totally form a fusion. The form that fought off Mayor Dewey's ancestor was implied to be that fusion ("but it doesn't look the same in the play" it's props made by a theater amateur it won't be accurate, it's just a physical form of an unreliable narrator), and if the three remaining Crystal Gems could occasionally form Alexandrite when they're as disconnected as they were in S1 there's no reason they wouldn't have formed a full fusion with Rose when they weren't feeling as broken.
