In theory nothing is wrong with making more diverse heroes. Some of the examples shown in the OP are pretty interesting as concepts.

It's in the execution where it tends to fall apart with shit characterisations and bad writing.

Examples that in my opinion pulled it off well: Ms Marvel, Totally Awesome Hulk and All New Ghostrider.
