What if Pink Diamond started the rebellion?

PD didn't want to destroy the Earth with mineral extraction and intensive colonisation. Rose, being a new quartz created by Pink Diamond inspired by Earth's ecosystem, proved a strong front-line General in the war against the Diamond Authority.

With resources running low on both sides, the Diamond Authority decide to offer Rose Quartz a deal. Shatter Pink Diamond and they'll leave the Earth alone. The rebels will be banished to Earth's surface, never to leave again. Homeworld gems will be forbidden from returning.

Rose shatters Pink Diamond. The Homeworld forces retreat. Corruption is fired at the Earth. The planet is abandoned.

Diamonds may be immune to corruption, want to keep the corruption a secret, and so need PD to be destroyed before they launch it. Don't want to deploy your dwindling forces onto a planet of monsters to attack a Diamond.

Jasper witnesses Rose Quartz shattering Pink Diamond, but not knowing why. When Homeworld evacuates, Jasper evacuates too. Can't stay on a world with Rose. Ran away from her. Now wants to make up for that mistake by destroying her.
