Was this cartoon aimed at children or adults? The choice of using a laugh track in a cartoon is odd to me too.

It was meant to be a sitcom, only animated. Laugh tracks have always been a sitcom trope.

Also there's literal cigarette commercials involving The Flintstones

I'm having a hard time imaging adults in the 60's watching The Flintstones because of the stigma about adults watching anything animated which persists with some people to even this day, yet it was an incredibly popular show.

The stigma of adults watching cartoons didn't start until the late 60's/early70's when they REALLY started to pander to children.

Is there articles or something about this? Sounds interesting.

Laugh track? What are you guys on about? It was recorded live in front of a studio audience.
>>
It was an animated sitcom that could be viewed by both adults and kids.

The whole stigma around adults watching cartoons didn't start until much later when cartoon programming started to almost exclusively be made to market stuff to children.

Hell the original pitch of Cartoon Network was that there needed to be a 24/7 cartoon only station where adults could watch cartoons outside of the usual Saturday morning, 8PM time slot.

There was no stigma. Cartoons were just another form of media until the 50s or 60s. Most Looney Tunes weren't for kids.

It's meant for children. Don't act like who make children's toy are actually making them for your weird old ass.

And then there's this retard

No one was saying that, and toys are made for cartoons not aimed at children anyways, idiot

Yeah, they always gloss over just how many animators Flintstones and the Jetsons go through doing that.
Remember when Carlo Vinci's wrists exploded? Ken Muse nearly lost an eye to flying bone shards.
