Why are so many people obsessed with the concept of romantically pairing two fictional characters together even if their chemistry has been proven to be incompatible? It's just mind boggling how someone could let something so mundane and insignificant in a show or movie and let it rule their lives?

I myself prefer to write about characters that might have a romantic relationship in secret because knowing it would be too scandalous.
