The problem is that all major nations have backed out. The only reason Japan is hosting in 2020 is because they never held a referendum on it. Every major nation that had put it to a vote on whether to contest for hosting an Olympics, had got it rejected by the people. At this point it is accepted that the civilians suffer when there is an Olympics being planned. Thus, mostly shitholes applied.
