I understand the need to get rid of him, no more need for him regarding the direction of the plot, or his absence in the last and future movies but still, didnt have to be like that.
I hope hell maybe come back and leave with heather, to explaining her abscence in the 2nd movie

They even say in the show that it was one of those deaths nobody actually saw and thus maybe didn't happen.
