I don't know why Amethyst doesn't get more of a confidence boost from Pearl or Garnet. Neither of them are what they're supposed to be, because they surpassed it. Both of them faced ridicule and dislike for being different but moved past it (well, Garnet moreso than Pearl). Amethyst is literally not alone in any way, as Steven just pointed out. Literally all of them went through similar issues, especially Pearl.

I hope the resolution of this arc involves all of the CGs acknowledging that they are all shitty gems, relatively speaking. Stephen is a weak half-human, Pearl's a servant, Amy is a runt, Ruby is just a mediocre footsoldier (and it's shown rubies need to work together en masse to do anything), and Sapphire is cool but is meant to be a non-combatant. Even Garnet, the strongest of them all, is really weak for a fusion. It's no mystery why Jasper wiped the floor with them at first, and she still has only lost to fusions. Her two-gem fusion was even almost stronger than the CG's four-gem fusion.
