Don't worry, it gets better. Most of Flynn's early run from 160-180 is just cleaning up the clusterfuck mess Penders left behind. Then he starts to do his own stories without a lot of the baggage. Then there's the crossover/reboot around 252, and since then it's been VERY streamlined, with many characters completely gone.

Just be careful diving into pre-160. Penders run was a complete mess from 50-160. The worst of the worst was from about 80-140ish or so. "Everyone has to go to High School now" was a plotline.

The states that aren't rehashes throw gimmicky mechanics up the ass which makes speedrunning boring. The normal stages still rely on the fairly unreliable Homing Attack.

Oh, and the 3D models in the first episode are actually mostly compressed .gifs.

They fixed most of these in the second episode, but sadly the bigger size of the game precluded it from being released on the platfrom which the first episode sold the best on (Wii.)
