MLP wrote entire scripts around what they thought the fans wanted. So we have children's show catering to adult men.

The only thing they missed is putting Ty Lee as a hungry cumslut with no personality. The fans love doing it to her. Ironically, aside from Azula that ends up in a prison, she's the only girl who end up without any pairing.

No, they did the inverse. They put fandom canon in their work...multiple times. It all started with "derpy", a animation error pony with cocked eyes. Then they starting put her as easter eggs in backgrounds, like the snail from AT. And at this point it was all fun and games. Then Lauren quit the job and things only got worse. Names of background characters turned into official, ebin memes got referenced in the series finally culminating in a episode all about the said background characters and their fanfic personalities. Now there's no return back, this season have a episode called "Reality is stranger than fanfiction" scheduled just to sum it up.

Yes they did and they got triggered hard. Watching the "chat reactions" is priceless

Basically shy-Pony reveals that she have a brother. Turns up he's one asshole that goes to "art school" and literally lives in his parents house, doing nothing all day but saying how cutting edge his "art" is, while making his parents cook and clean things for him. We end up discovering he got rejected at school because he can't do a thing but "IT'S MY STYLE" trash. At the end he finally get out of his parents house and graduates, having a normal social life, recognizing how obnoxious he was.

If every thread on this board got transferred over to /co/, the board would be like 70 percent MLP crap....and then everyone would bitch and then ponies would be banned, and then they'd realize there are a lot of MLP fans on here and create a board for it and oh wait

Also, this board has stricter rules than even /co/ itself regarding what constitutes as "shitposting", so think about that for a second
>>
>>84991993
>Alright, I'll bite. What do Barney and MLP have anything do to with one another?

Does it really matter? The people who are triggered simply by viewing something they don't like need to grow the fuck up, I think actually people who would derail a thread just because of a reaction image should be the ones who get banned

I fucking hate anime myself, but I don't get mad when people use anime reaction images....if you made an anime thread on a board I'd tell you to fuck off, but I'm not so retarded that I get upset by reaction images
>>
>>84991406

Because the fans deserve it.
>>
>>84992573
>I think actually people who would derail a thread just because of a reaction image should be the ones who get banned
At this point, it's not so much that they're posting things that they don't like, it's more or less the fact that they're breaking a global rule when they do it.

So they're saying that if you push yourself, work hard and put yourself out there, you can overcome nearly any obstacle.
>>

>At this point, it's not so much that they're posting things that they don't like, it's more or less the fact that they're breaking a global rule when they do it.
Yeah and they get their images deleted, or at the most a lengthy ban because of it. I was talking from a perspective as if GR15 was abolished, which honestly it should be since the only reason it isn't is autistic cry babies who are the ones who SHOULD get punished

>>84992637
>>it's a "Lauren Faust was right" episode
I think it was more of a "that kind of fan who always say things were better back in the day are stuck up pricks" episode, but it is MLP so in the end it wrapped up with a nice message about how just because fans like different aspects of a thing doesn't mean they have to hate one another.

I don't see how 3 holds anything, it was easily the lowest dip in quality in the show and this is softened only by the fact that it was an extremely short season....and hell, there are still SOME S3 episodes I like despite having those feelings....every season has episodes I love, some I dislike, and some I think are just ok....no season, not even 1 and 2, had NOTHING but home runs

And if you dropped it how can you have an opinion on new episodes? This is my biggest "thing" with people who criticize the show...about 9 times out of 10 it's people who also claim they stopped watching

No show have JUST home runs mostly because there's a bunch of writers, and some will always be better than others, that usually are just starting

And really, /mlp/ sometimes behave like that girls that say you have to read Twilight to know it's not that good. It's a vampire that sparkles and creeps on a girl. That's the summary and I already don't like it, why pretend it can get any better than this?

In the same fashion, purple pony is now a Alicorn, there's brothers and sister for everybody, episodes centered on fanfic characters and so on. That is terrible. I don't need to keep watching every single episode to find something worth, or at least not that bad.

Permit me to sum it up and save you the trouble: no Hitler means no Third Reich, no World War II, no rocketry programs, no electronics, no computers, no time travel. Get the picture?

>that fallacy

Modern art as we know it (AKA the crazy ones) only started after the WW2. Things like surrealism, dadaism, cubism were mostly times a "i'm only pretending to be retarded" kind of deal, since the rest of the world was bragging about PERFECT ORDER.
However expressionism was already a thing, and Hitler borrows from that style a lot, however by definition it is already a modern concept.
The greek/roman aesthetic he talked so much are nowhere to see in his paints.
He got rejected pretty much by the exactly same reason he got rejected as a soldier. Because he took it as a personal attack.
When you analyses Hitler whole story that's what always happens "IT'S NOT MY FAULT. THE WORLD IS THE ONE WRONG"

Surrealism and Dadaism (and others of their ilk) were very serious, even if they didn't present themselves always like that.
Particular the early surrealist movement was a tightly controlled group and both art movements created various programs and manifestos.
The avant-garde of the 20th century was often heavily influenced by then uprising socialist politics and thus also saw themselves as the change that society should aspire to.

Ok....so by that logic you're saying you don't watch MLP because you don't like it? That's fine....nobody is forcing you to like it, but implying the show now is somehow of lesser quality than it was before while saying you don't like it discredits your opinion one hundred percent and leave me believing that you get your opinions from hearsay and hivemind

>It was pretty much old PPG with ponies.
No it wasn't...why do you say this, just because it had girls as leads? PPG was for the most part an episodic comedy show more akin to something like Dexter's Lab than MLP

>I used to like it, because it was more than meet the eye. It was creative, simplistic and...fun.
It was never as simplistic as say PPG, the very FIRST episode basically bombards you with lore and world building. So you can't get away with claiming the show has somehow become convoluted or something. As far as being creative simplistic and fun I really fail to see how it is any less of any of those things compared to the original seasons.....like at all.

>Now it's exactly what says on the tin. It's "Buy our toys". They don't have to hide it anymore.
How is it any more toyetic than it ever was? It's toyetic in the sense that the characters exist and toys are made of them. That's literally it.

The Nazi party explicitly called out modern art as an example of the corruption that the untermensch were inflicting on German society. They had hours long films comparing people with physical deformities to the highly stylized modern art of the time.

It depends on the context and intent. That Animaniacs sketch starts out with them mocking the giant obese shit poster who's doing nothing but complaining about pointless shit and pointing out mistakes only he could possibly care about.

Then the sketch shifts to guys who are just talking about references or background stuff.

Fun fact for that episode. The internet fans who were the inspiration for it were doing a studio tour at the time and got to see a pre-release screening of it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1W-wnh__DM

>Then, with some trepidation, they wondered if they should show us The Please Please Please Get-A-Life Foundation. We all said do, so they did. Hastings mentioned as he put the tape on that we'd recognize stuff from the CRGA. Even stuff from the POIT is in there, actually. Again, we loved what we saw. Hastings told me later that this cartoon will never get a better reception than it did that morning. I agree. I think the casual readers of the group will be far more offended than the regulars -- the actual targets of the cartoon. Proving his place in the cartoon, Jay pointed out an error immediately after it ended, but I'm not convinced that that `error' wasn't intentional to see how quickly people would notice.

>Each one was genuinely interested in meeting us and seeing our reactions to things. As we were watching the material from the next season, they were watching us to see what we thought. They were highly nervous about showing us Please, Please, Please Get A Life Foundation, and Peter asked us to "remember, folks, we deal in satire here." I pointed out that one of the hallmarks of WB humor was that *nothing* is sacred, and I didn't see why us fans should be left out; Peter said he hoped we still felt that way three minutes later, as he punched PLAY. I think I can speak for the rest of the group when I say that we did. The cartoon is screamingly funny, and I'll fire a preemptive shot in the flamewar that it will undoubtedly produce amongst those who take themselves too seriously: if you're offended by it, you should take a long look at yourself to see just how close to home it hits.
>
>Yes, I did point out an error in PPPGALF. The expression on Peter's face was one of supreme shock.

I think for most people it only becomes a problem when something gets posted about so much that it begins to push out discussion of other topics.
Some would say that Steven Universe does that, but I don't think it's anywhere close to that point.

Older viewers aren't THAT big a part of the MLP fanbase and they most certainly didn't/don't keep it going.

If the show weren't super successful with its intended demographic, it would have been axed long ago- no matter how internet petitions 25 year old men wrote.

Even more successful shows have been canceled for bringing in the wrong demographic, and theirs didn't include creepy nerds best known for their beastiality porn.

Copyright law is a bitch. If even one single fanfic maker says "hey wait a minute pay up" it starts all sorts of shit. Doing the exact opposite falls under "parody", which is fair game and lets you directly reference something without the legal nightmare.

More recently was a convention episode: dakimakura, anime character standees, cosplayers, all that. It was about a guy who used to like (thing) but hates the more recent entries, and gets hung up on the specifics of how (thing) has changed. And then they get kidnapped to the jungle and stuff happens.

The character was actually respected for his knowledge, and most people seemed to think it was a solid 9/10 adventure episode, so I'm not sure what OP is bitching about.

Writers aren't allowed to read fanfiction for that exact reason, so they wouldn't even know if they were parodying or not. The things that made it in were mostly broad-strokes fanon rather than fanfiction -- things that pervade across a fandom and can't really be traced to one specific work, like certain characters getting paired up a lot.
