He was an edgy fighter who was quick to anger, a good foil to the rest of the group, but a terrible choice for the Leader, who should be a little more sociable.

Raven on the other hand filled the teenage angst role much better, especially since she always kept her cool. Some of my favorite moments in the show are when her no fun allowed quips would disrupt whatever Beast Boy and Cyborg were doing, only to show later that she was messing with them on purpose.

Unlike damn near every show that imitate its style it actually got it down right. It was also among the first ones that didn't just ape DBZ and called it a day since the people that worked on it actually did have extensive knowledge of anime that one of the prime influences to the show's style was His Or Her Circumstance.

Superman, the last few seasons of Batman, Static Shock and The Zeta Project were all worse. It doesn't help that this was the era in which Timm's style got ridiculous and less detailed during Justice League so Teen Titans' vibrant off beat style was a breath of fresh air

The bulk of its humor was inspired by Gainax shows like FLCL and His Or Her Circumstance. The Mad Modd episode is something you would not see coming from Sailor Moon or Pokemon.

It was a good show and the main reasons why characters like Cyborg and Raven came back to the limelight as far as DC is concerned. Most of its hate nowadays are from people who just dislike its anime style.

Most people who gave a shit about the comics at that time didn't even bother to watch it. One of the reasons why TT was so popular back then was because its fanbase were from people who have never read the original run. And given that the actual quality of the comics were not good at all there wasn't much of a huge stick about the cartoon doing its own thing. The most common complaint among original fans was that Robin was too serious and acted nothing like Dick Grayson and Starfire being a naive ailen girl instead of a hippie and of course the Titans being younger than the comic counterparts outside that the divide wasn't as severe as say TTG mainly because not that many people gave a shit about the comics at all.

Rewatching the show. I forgot how fucking well animated it was. I always thought that the Bruce Timm shows got less and less fluid after the first season of BTAS and became really stiff by the end of Justice League.

I remember a great Darkseid arc, entertaining Superman/Lobo and Superman/Robin crossovers, Bizarro and Mister Mxyzptlk episodes and genuinely creepy Toyman
which were all genuinely good/fun unlike the mix of blandness and obnoxiousness that is Teen Titans.
Not to mention that on average it was better than BTAS which people like to forget all the sucky parts of.

Biggest problem with that show is that it had virtually no good standalones and the characters were boring as shit, and Supes didn't actually fucking grow as a character the way Bats did in his respective show.

Judas Contract doesn't hold up that well honestly. Its well-regarded because its one of the few good arcs in the comics and was considered a huge risk back then. Reading it today shows that it hasn't aged well.

Yeah the original plan for Legion of Superheores was for it to take place after the Legion episode of Justice League Unlimited starring Supergirl but those plans were scrapped because investors thought that a female lead wouldn't sell, which became a problem throughout the run of Legion that most of the female characters were scrapped because investors thought they wouldn't sell toys, so it was completely redone and Superboy became the lead.
