Someone asked me about The Black Lodge from Twin Peaks.

Spoilers for Journal 3.



In Journal 3, it is heavily suggested that Bill is from The Black Lodge.

The Black Lodge is an extra dimensional realm of pure evil. It is inhabited by various evil entities that feed on human fear, suffering, pain, and lust. The entities can possess human hosts to gather and elicit these emotions.

Within the Lodge, time has no meaning and it is very disordered.

Alex was a fan of Twin Peaks, the villain was Bob, who possessed characters. Bill quoted Bob in the Guide to Nonstop Fun.

The opposite of The Black Lodge was the White Lodge and there's ton of other mythology shit, too.

Now, I'd argue a lot of this doesn't really jibe with the show or Bill's character, and after all this is a cartoon. The Flatland back story makes a ton more sense honestly, especially with what Bill says in the finale, and you could pretty much slot Flatland in there and it would "work" as a back story.

So it's more a nod to the TP influence probably and it and the more sinister/evil Bill parts of the novel sort of...hints of things you can't do in a G rated cartoon show.

You know, I've never watched Twin Peaks or Gravity Falls, but I've been following these Cipher hunt threads both because I love Deadly Premonition and the fanbase drama was hilarious. The more I hear about TP/GF the more I think I want to get into them. Do you think these shows are worth it? I think both shows are worth watching for different reasons, but hilariously both shows have reputations in some circles as going downhill after their big central mysteries are solved.

I liked and was entertained the whole way through but with GF, just keep in mind that yes, it is a kids' show. Fans went wild with theories and creepy fan works but it was a short cartoon show on the Disney channel.

Twin Peaks was a lot of fun especially back in the day but like anything Lynch it's more style than substance. Quirky humor and characters and like I said entertaining.

Both shows ended too soon for very different reasons and could probably have each used an extra season.

The thing will be updated afterwards. To expand what was being said on twitter. I spent a long time making sure it was as hard as possible for the internet.

That meant shitty controls, bad camera, no clicking or selection, starting over, etc. Even with all that, working together, you'd still solve it within in a day. I know our power.

I meant solving the entirety of the digital version from scratch. The puzzle itself took literally 10 minutes to craft. Forcing randomization, cutting pieces to import into the site so there was no tie to the original full image, etc, was all done so the digital version wasn't solved as methodically.

The idea was to make it so you couldn't tell the exact puzzle you had instantly (unless it was white. As even the same puzzle would load it's pieces randomly for different users.

It'd take too long for any one individual to solve all 10 puzzles themselves so it forced a sense of community across all sites to post their progress.

I think it would have turned out well and still been solved by the time Confusion Hill opened today. I have to say I'm glad it turned out the way it did though. I've tried to get my hands on the pilot for years. Just gotta have faith.

The next clue is at confusion hill, one of the spots we visited on our original Cipher Hunt back in March.

I have obligations tomorrow that I can't get out of...

Currently working on an AU story for the show focusing on how things would be if Finger Anon and May switched places.
