"Martian Manhunter" is not a marketable name. Neither is "J'onn J'onzz". His powerset is also too similar to Superman's, and yet he's more powerful despite his weakness to fire.

I feel like we should throw a wrench in Johns plans. Someone should marathon stream JLU as preparation for the JL movie, just keep spreading the word and drawing new audiences every week to indirectly reintroduce people to Jon Stewart.

Even if Johns ends up getting WB to stick by Cyborg he'll suddenly find Hal's spot taken up by a vocal request for Stewart played by Idris Elba. Boom, all that work for nothing.

Wasn't that more the 80's and some of the 90's?

Thing about the classic roster is, they haven't really had a good run since Morrison's. Maybe Joe Keilly's but I've never read it despite hearing about how pretty good it is.

I wouldn't mind a reshuffle and we could get some crazier teams going, or if they tried to do something different with it. But the classic team hasn't been impressive in a long while.

That's the problem. Like Cyborg, DC are trying to push the classic league (minus J'onn which sucks) but they haven't been that groundbreaking and they've remained mostly the same now since 2011. Rebirth has added Simon and Jessica as the rookie lanterns that replace Hal which is a step in the right direction given they're far better characters than I was expecting them to be.

As much as I respect Johns, one of his flaws is he fanboys too much over solver age characters. When imo some of the best leaguers were around in the 80's and 90's like JLI with Booster, Beetle and Guy. Probably my favourite Justice League.

I grew up with the same cartoon, but I hate having Cyborg on the team, the spot should have gone to Black Lightning, who was one of their first black heroes (I'd drop the Black in the name though, or just call him Vulcan or Juice).
The also missed out on having Steel in the JL movie, it would've been cool to have a member whose reason for being there is Supes death

He was originally added there since in the first couple of years Superman's and Batman's appearances in the league were limited, often just appearing at the ending of stories or to say they're too busy to help. So, Martian Manhunter was basically a Superman stand-in who actually got to appear throughout the main stories.
