Nope, can't top that. Shit used to give me nightmares. Even my dad, who is a Disney fanatic, said that was a little dark, though he said Clayton's hanging was almost as fucked up.

Hades' "death" was super lame, because you can't stop thinking the whole time it's happening that he's the KING of the Underworld, and also a god who can't die. He'll eventually just climb back out and be fine.

From what I gather from my brother who interns at ABC writing, it's actually a rule for Disney villains who die, to have gruesome frightening deaths. It's supposed to scare kids straight, and to put the idea in their heads that evil never wins, or "that bad people go to hell, so be good".

Biblical shit and all that nonsense.
>>

I don't know, I don't think that was particularly painful nor brutal. Marty McFly didn't seem to hurt when he started phasing from existence.
Frollo just fell to his death like most other disney villains.

He controlled them and they got fed up with him. Even they knew he was fucking everything up and made it difficult for everyone(by not moving on to follow the animals during the drought or controlling the weather - which ever you prefer). The hyenas saw him as a leader who was 'one of them'. They did benefit from him but in the end they were well aware he threw them under the bus when it came down to it to save his own skin and were just using them. They figured out he couldn't control them anymore and ate him alive.

Yeah, I've heard something along those lines from people who used to write/storyboard for Disney, on talkback forums.

They would come up with timid ends for villains, but the head writers who worked under the higher execs would go back and change it later into something more dark and shocking.

Somebody asked ~isn't that a little scary for a kids' movie?~

His boss replied with ~that's the point. Disney films are supposed to teach the lesson that bad people suffer, so to scare children into behaving~
>>
>>84773808
>>84773168
But a lot of Disney villains get really tame fates.

One rule they definitely follow, though, is that their death is never directly caused by the hero.
>>
>>84772331
I think Bill reacted like that out of pure desperation, not pain.
>>
>>84773158

PATF is one of the most certain worlds to get in due to how big-named it is in the Disney library.

At the very least he and Tiana will appear.
>>
>>84773358
He was pretty much just a glorified manager who oversaw the process of death crossing into the afterlife after The Fates did their job, while Pain and Panic took care of any possible loose ends from there. It was not a very complicated operation he had going on. At best, his domain in the Underworld was more or less just a placeholder position to keep any wildcards from fucking with the balance of nature.

I wouldn't be surprised if the rest of the pantheon just let him stay in Styx for however long as it'd take for him to pull himself out, while still holding him accountable for any fuck ups that may occur on his watch that he couldn't prevent. After the shit he pulled in Olympus, they'd have less respect for him than ever.

Facilier's death was pretty damn fucked up, I agree, but part of that was the buildup of knowing he was going to die before his time came.

Turbo was much the same. I loved Wreck-It Ralph but boy did it give me the creeps seeing the villain's body basically commit suicide while his mind was cognizant of what was happening and panicking while trying helplessly to stop himself from burning himself alive.
>>
>>84773273
No. He got eaten by "things" that he never once saw as equals. Only as things to be handles or managed. Sure that makes it more despairing for him for the tables to have turned but that doesn't deserve any empathy.

He wasn't even a villain, he just pawned his soul off for some extremely minute powers in order to survive. Watching him get bullied by his friends makes me feel sad.

I think what makes Syndromes death worse is that fact that while we see something similar happen to a super...only difference is she got pulled in head first, Syndrome...didn't.

If he's lucky, the explosion probably killed him before the propeller blades got past his legs.

I think the creepiest part about the good doctor's end wasn't so much the being dragged to hell thing, but the fact that the demons were tormenting him with his own song as it was happening and the fucked up tombstone that was left afterwards. Almost telling you that, "yes he's burning in hell, or whatever horrible voodoo afterlife awaited him."

Why can't Midas use gloves?
>>
>>84785657
The gloves would turn to solid gold.

Anything that enters his mouth also turned to gold.
>>
>>84785690
I mean, that's really the problem with the story of Midas. The moral doesn't come out to be "don't be greedy" but "be specific with your wishes so a dickass genie doesn't fuck you over".
>>
>>84785690
What if the gloves are made with gold to begin with? For eating it can be a major problem if the power extends to his stomach and intestines...
>>
>>84781671
Yeah, the moral of this story always went over my head. The punishment was a tad severe. It's like it was saying it was wrong to be rich.

It isn't wrong to be rich, it's wrong to be cruel and greedy. He could have simply told Goldie that he learned his lesson, and will never be greedy again and give to the poor, in exchange for removing the curse.

There's nothing wrong with giving to charity.
>>
>>84784831

Making Hans' punishment be comic relief scenes was really bizarre. He should have at least fallen off a cliff.
>>
>>84774436
It took me a minute.
>>
>>84784831
It's part of the whole FROZEN schtick of subverting Disney tropes. Hans gets to live and face the consequences of his acts instead of getting a quick demise. After knowing what he tried to pull against both the Queen and the Princess of Arendelle his parents will surely try to save face sonehow.

Being eaten alive and being burned alive are like the two most painful and worst ways to go.

And Scar got both of them.

In an alternate universe he avoided that fate only to be skinned and turned into clothing.

So yeah, at this point in time, it can only be Scar.
>>
>>84773112

I never saw it as a death though. His plans were foiled, but we know that Hades was never gonna die anyway. I agree, he's gonna be pissed climbing back out, but he'll otherwise be fine

In another alternate universe she's best girl, so it's alright.
>>
>>84781580

I get nightmares from Fantasia, and I saw that when I was, like, 17. Granted, it's mostly from my experiences with Chernabog in KH and the fact that Greek gods scare me. In my defense, it wasn't his appearance that scared me so much as the fear he struck in others
>>
>>84781671

Is it though? Your corpse is turned to gold, I'd say a death like that is better than most
>>
>>84772960
>>84781354
In the original, people didn't die. They just got horribly disfigured, had their brains pretty much melt while still being alive, or straight up get their soul extracted into an item.

Scared the living shit out of me as a kid

>>
>>84787803
id funny because Yami Yugi was a fuking sociopath in the original manga. The set people on fire, mind rape them to cry in fetal position, torture them until they beg for mercy and putting them in a coma
>>
>>84785795
Well, granted, his greed clearly made him really impulsive when he made the wish. Maybe the moral of King Midas is instead "Don't allow yourself to be controlled by greed, or else you'll end up an impulsive idiot and screw yourself over?"
>>
>>84788039
Pixars reasoning with that end for Lotso was to leave him co pletely powerless to do anything but think about what he's done, forever.

It's fucking wild how graphic Clayton's death was, even by old school Disney standards.

Like, chopping at the vines, you see them working around his neck. Even Tarzan tries to get him to stop. That really brief shot of his panicked face as he falls. Then just like, his hanging limp shadow. Fuckin' hell.
>>
>>84788661
Time travel was meant to be impossible, you don't just up and decide "Well, today I'm going to test to see if I can do a little impossibility to see how it goes"

Besides, even if he had, he was insane. Things like "not enough Wakfu on the entire planet" would only have pushed him to do something even more absurd like trying to drain the Krosmos itself

I think that in original greek myth he was already a rich and greedy as hell before the wish. I don't remember who exactly granted him the wish, but he knew Midas would just ask for more gold and he wanted to teach him a lesson.
>>
>>84781354
I love how cartoons always say "destroy" instead of "kill" as if "Im going to kill you and remove all trace of your existence" is somehow better than just killing them
>>
>>84785795
See most stories involving genies or monkey paw shenanigans come from a time long ago when the only moral was "dont trust magic" so more contemporary morels got retrofitted to the already popular myths later on.

Kinda like how the moral of most greek myths is "Gods are assholes" but we like to jazz them up as fables.
>>
>>84792266
Shit man I'm getting goosebumps just remembering it.
>>
>>84785845
The best interpretation of the story from what I saw is that he turned his daughter to gold on accident, and just had to wash his hands in Bacchus' river to cleanse himself.

>that exact moment where he realizes he fucked up

Maybe his plan would have worked if he localized the time rewind to just the planet instead of the entire universe

Then again, I've heard that most of the energy went into overpowering the god of time just to allow backwards time travel in the first place
