What if he only feels this angry and hateful towards Kevin, not because of his own opinions, but because of how Connie/Stevonnie felt during their first encounter with Kevin? Keep this in mind; as Steveonnie, Steven had access to Connie's feelings and thoughts too. Connie already had social anxiety, which was then compounded by a creepy guy hitting on her out of nowhere. At 14 years old, you don't honestly believe it's your fault that your family is all mad at each other. He was there when Garnet yelled at Pearl, he fucking knew why everyone was mad. desu my parents hated each other even as a young child and I never assumed that had anything to do with me and I was 6-11.

But Steven-centered episodes make him way too childlike, he honestly comes off like he's 8-10 because they are trying to make him cute as a button but it's extremely obnoxious. This means that human culture began taking shape while unthinkable calamities and godlike fusions literally shook the earth. There's significant cultural trauma, there. They showed more restraint that second time and there's potential for the fusion to have some really cool moments, but all that holds it back is they can only ever bring her back without a speaking role. They should just recast her voice honestly. It's not like she even said anything much or acted particularly well. Fuck, its because of her that the first episode she appeared in was so awkward. She was written to have a singing role but then she asked for way too much money to do that.

Of course all the fusions that aren't just voiced by their original components seem to have this problem. Big name voices they have no way of locking down in a studio to ever come back or blow their money on again. Even Sardonyx didn't speak in her second appearance, and that was literally like 3 episodes later.

They hinted at it with her very first appearance. This is why I kinda doubt Jasper is in the plans to join them any time soon. Steven never wavered in trying to convert Peridot, even before she was trapped on Earth. Jasper however Steven just treats as someone evil and is afraid of her. While that could make a cool arc, I kinda get the feeling that they're not saying it's a major character moment so much as them saying "We don't care about her"

Sugilite is my favorite fusion and I've always been really interested in how she really wanted to stay herself. It makes sense - she is her own gem, and splitting apart is almost like killing the fusion. But no other fusion except Garnet showed a desire to remain an individual, and even Garnet has never been belligerent about defusing like Sugi was in her first appearance.

I'd love for her to show up again in a more positive, heroic light. But that won't happen unless they recast her.
