No, he just got burned out during Season 1 and even considered just stopping after that before others convinced him to come back and quickly wrapped things up. Behind the scenes was apparently brutal and stressful. It does probably mean the series ended sooner than it should have BUT if they had tried to do that it probably would have gone badly and just stopped at some point with no resolution when everyone was totally burned out and quit. So it is what it is. Alex wasn't the only one burned out on it, either.

I just realized a funny similarity between Twin Peaks, and Gravity Falls.

I really did not like Mabel's character. At first her random humor was kind of funny, but it wore off after the first 5 episodes. Then she was just an annoying immature brat who made people sacrifice the things they love for her sake. Mabel has to be my least favorite female of Disney history.

I think I may sound very unrealistically foolish, but I think it is way better to have a level of disclosure than prolonging a show/series. I mean, at least the team of gravity falls enjoyed what they were doing. Even if possible, they might even return one day, like Samurai Jack. Though, it is my dream at least.
