Welcome back Anons, to Namor the Sub-Mariner! Tonight we'll see more of (apparently) everyone's favorite Waifu, the Headhunter. But first?
What's wrong with your face?!
He looks like Swamp Thing's uglier cousin, for god's sake.
>>84506406
He got a non-stick coating so he could cook pancakes on it.
You'd know this if you were here last night. You WERE here last night, weren't you?
>"We came out to the ocean to get a story, only we're almost out of fuel."
You two are fucking idiots, and you're lucky Namor is in a good mood.
And here's everyone's reason for being here.
>"He's more than any one woman can control."
I'll take "lines that sound like they're from bad pornos" for $200, Alex.
When someone who literally calls herself "Headhunter" thinks you're fucked up, you've got issues.
>>84506474
Byrne should have used her more. One of the most underrated designs ever in comics.
Never a superhero team around when you need them.
>>84506435
There is a VERY similar looking monster in the first issue of Alpha Flight
Wasn't this the plot of that Marvel Two-In-One issue with Power Man?
>>84506569
I dunno, as you will see she doesn't exactly have goals that can work multiple times.
Man, THAT looks like it could've hurt.
>>84506435
You mean Man-Thing isn't already Swampy's uglier cousin?
>>84506707
Depending on the artist, no.
>>84506447
Savour these repetitive recap pages while they last.
I think by the time we hit the first H4H series Marvel had moved that kind of catching you up info into those gatefold covers with the cast lists.
>>84506747
It's one of those things that gets a bit annoying when reading in bulk like we are. But I'm also keeping links to all the threads in a series in the OP post, in case someone missed a thread.
>>84506474
A henchman right out of Batman '66 with a shirt identifying them by name?
>"I want to FACE my responsibility."
We get it, your face is fucked up!
>"You said there would be no pain!"
>"I lied, all right?"
Well, at least he's honest about it.
>>84506521
Well you've heard the phrase "corporate headhunter" before, right?
>>84506838
Yeah, but how many writers nowadays know enough about business to write one of those characters well?
Man, the clean-up is going to be a bitch.
>>84506795
Wrong potential waifu, Anon.
>>84506788
>It's one of those things that gets a bit annoying when reading in bulk like we are
Yeah. It was always there mostly because comics used to be almost entirely written for mobthly episodic consumption, and even if you had a full run of a series or something it's nice to get a reminder of what's going on.
The growth of collected editions through the 90s really made them more redundant, but also encouraged greater decompression.Shooter was right to make as many issues new reader friendly as possible
>>84506707
>implying Man-Thing isn't cute
He's got puppy dog eyes.
>>84506868
Ticker is waifu tier as well though.
>>84506854
I have no idea. How many comics that deal with big business are there? There's this, and Iron Man (which I have not read) and...that's all I got.
>>84506885
Fair point. As I've mentioned, I only got into this hobby well after trade paperbacks were a thing, so I've always been able to do big things like this.
Makes me wonder why Marvel bothered to retire their graphic novel line if people like Bendis can't tell complete stories in one issue.
>>84506954
Well there's the new Spider-Man which SHOULD, but, it's modern Slott.
>>84506972
Because retards will buy fragment floppies en masse in additions to the tradewaiting retards
>>84506933
Yeah, but Headhunter is the one who the people were asking for last thread.
>>84506954
Japan does a bunch of business comics. America does almost none. In yuropooristan there's Largo Winch, but that's basically James Bond if he were a CEO and not really ABOUT business.
>>84506998
As I understand it, doesn't Marvel literally decide what series lives or dies based on the floppy sales?
>>84506999
Of course she is. She's awesome.
If not the Big Two as a whole.
Be honest, who noticed this change before Namor?
>>84506987
Does stuff like Power Company and Damage Control count as business comics?
Say what you will about Namor, I don't think anyone in this thread can walk through a crowded area after being effectively crippled and still keep their head held high.
>>84507058
Wouldn't know, I haven't read those either, but do they deal with the corporate side, or the workers?
>>84507024
Exactly
OK so 70k people are going to buy this schlock where nothing happens cause of Bendis on the cover for 3 bucks a pop and then a bunch more people will buy a trade for 20 bucks, largely including those who have collected the floppies?
Why would you not take the time to publish floppies for basically nothing and turn a profit and also sell trades of it, instead of just selling the full story at one time and probably getting similar numbers as the trades made from the floppy format? I'm just going to fuck everybody if I'm Marvel or DC
Gratuitous Nita ass in the second panel.
Not that I'm complaining, you understand.
>>84507077
Shit, I couldn't walk around in that bathing suit with my head held high. Namor has probably never had those "show up naked in a public place" bad dreams, and doesn't understand why anyone would.
>>84507128
I was more referring to the whole "suddenly missing the wings that he's presumably had his entire life."
Namor has NEVER had a problem wandering around half naked.
>>84507124
>gratuitous shot of Nita's ass
>the entire comic, from issue 1 until now, is full of shots of Namor's ass
>>84507106
They're not big corporations, one's a business-styled superhero team, the other's a construction company of sorts.
>>84507120
>Why would you not take the time to publish floppies for basically nothing and turn a profit and also sell trades of it, instead of just selling the full story at one time and probably getting similar numbers as the trades made from the floppy format?
Because the Big Two hasn't updated how they pay their creative staff to do that. As it is, they have to take multiple books to make enough money to make ends meet, and if they have to do it every few months or work MUCH harder to do entire trades worth of pages in a month.
Best thing to do is spend your money on floppies that tell complete stories and hope the companies get the friggen hint.
>>84507148
Or according to Marvels, totally naked.
>>84507201
Yeah, but Namor is right there with Spider-Man and Nightwing in terms of ass shots. It's not funny pointing THAT out because everyone knows it.
>>84507217
Yeah, those are different kinds of books. Headhunter is basically a corporate supervillain, and I just don't trust anyone writing now to write her without sucking.
Remember why we're here Anons? Because it continues Luke and Danny's stories? Here we go!
>"Joy Meachum announced the return of Daniel Rand."
And here we see the man himself, somehow alive and well after getting Captain Hero'd!
>>84507226
I ain't paying nutting
And with that cocktease out of the way, back to Namor's story.
So can Namor not Hulk-jump without his wings?
>Headhunter looks Namor in the eye and annoys him just because
Oh good, at least now he's fuckin' dead.
Man, that's a lot of smog.
You've gotta love that smug grin on her face.
Seriously, look at it!
This is basically THE Headhunter issue, so all you people who waifu here, here's the issue for you.
>>84507448
She's so smug that the red dye came out of her hair!
>>84507489
Yeah, she spends this entire issue with her hair white.
Welp, there goes Namor. I guess this is Nita's book now.
Hey look, the OG Human Torch.
What's he been up to lately?
This arc has enough Golden Age wanking to make Roy Thomas blush.
>the superhuman cousin of the superhuman she nailed to her wall bursts through her window
>her henchmen freak the hell out
>Headhunter continues to grin, and hopes to get her on her wall as well
Oh no, Nita got She-Hulked!
Nita's going to be spending the rest of the issue holding her top up.
I'd make a joke about this being "Byrne being Byrne", but I don't want you to start posting that pregnant preteen picture again.
Damn "possible malicious code" nonsense.
>>84506474
thanks OP wanted to read this ever since that waifu thread a few days ago
>>84507811
Oh? Is that why everyone went nuts last time?
>>84507357
lmao I love this bitch.
But it's kinda difficult nailing her voice, is she southern?
God damn, Nita has some 80's shoulders in that coat.
I feel like this shit sholdn't work.
>>84507876
Well you know it's gotta be those Italian cut jobs that are padded as fuck.
>>84507854
I don't know, I've never read of her anywhere outside this issue. Looking her up though, she's apparently a mutant. She's also in Villains For Hire, but that torrent isn't downloading for me.
>"You are a man of honor."
I never took Namor to be a shitty judge of character.
All right Anons, let's finish up with one more issue.
>>84507933
Dr. Doom has played him like a fiddle more than once.
Uh oh.
>>84507982
Human Torch getting a woman's body? Isn't that more of a Claremont fetish?
>>84508013
If it were claremont one would be a blonde in S&M gear.
To you Youngins, there for decades there was no single country called "Germany", and there were people who didn't want the two halves to reunify.
>Namor reads the Daily Bugle
Well, I may be wrong about the whole "some people didn't want them to unify", but given that Namor isn't portrayed as wrong here, I can only assume it's something people genuinely believed.
>>84507357
>>84507370
>>84507379
>Byrne.jpg
>>84507357
>>84507370
>>84507379
>this is someone's fetish.jpg
And even Captain America, before he was a total fuckwit doesn't seem to like the idea of a single Germany.
>>84508144
Anon, it's Byrne. We know what his fetish is, and it's little girls.
>>84508152
The John Byrne Says twitter pulled a quote about a " 20something lady friend" he had over
He's 66 for reference
>>84508145
>1991
No he's a total fuckwit by now
And now we get Misty and Colleen finally confronting the fake Danny Rand!
>he has Danny's dragon tattoo
He IS a fake, right?
>flaming hand
>super strength
That... that's a good copy, right Anons? I mean, the real Danny would never rip his girlfriend's arm off, right?
>>84508174
Was he when he made the tweet?
>>84508232
He doesn't run the twitter, someone combs the forum for quotes and shares them with the sane people who don't want to go near the real thing
So that quote may well be a couple years old or it could be new
>>84508252
Well, I don't blame you for wanting to try and date-check that.
>solve this problem or I'll snap your neck, and find someone else I'll threaten to solve it!
Namorita, secret ninja.
>>84508277
The post is from July 10 2016
>>84508334
Fucking hell Byrne, you're old enough to be her father.
>insert Frankenstein reference
So this guy is just the Nazi's version of Captain America, right?
Given that this guy can melee with Namor, doesn't that mean the Nazi Super Soldier Serum is objectively better?
See? It even lets him friggen FLY
Well, I'm starting to fall asleep, so let's leave things off here. See you tomorrow night, to see how Namor gets out of this.
And what of Danny Rand? Maybe we'll find out. See you guys then.
Thanks, OP.
Those two evil twins are underrated characters. There hasn't really been a bad scene of them.
How much of this series are we ding? Just the Byrne stuff?
>>84510625
I was planning to do only up until issue 34 (one issue after Byrne leaves, but after that the series isn't relevant to Iron Fist), but if people want to go all the way, I don't mind. Given that the pair are basically the sterotypical B-Listers, I'm considering doing that, actually, to give a more full look at the Marvel Universe, with them as our focal point.
>>84510642
>but if people want to go all the way, I don't mind
Given what #34 sets up I strongly suggest going to #40 at least. Once you get to the War Machine issue it loses a lot of focus and ambles a lot. IIRC the Sea Leopard mystery never got solved, the Wraith issues ended up underwhelming and the run terminates on a cliffhanger that you had to find a super-obscure crossover mini to finish (I never bothered).
That said #44 and The Cuckening arc stand out to me in a good way. And maybe there are some fans of current Deadpool here who would appreciate the Dr Dorcas story.
>>84507294
So what, does Tyrone King being fireproof never get explained?
>>84511115
Wouldn't you like to know.
>>84507588
He led the All New Invaders for a while, got a nice looking red version of the Commander Steve suit, and may have last been shown hanging out in Camp Him.
>>84511115
He's not fireproof. He's BOMBPROOF. You can be fireproof and still die to shrapnel.
>>84507675
>Mr Stocks
>Ticker
Man, she really is a Batman '66 villain.
Quick- casting choices for who wiyld havr played her in the campy Namir live action series, where they got rid of his ankle wongs to cut down of the fyling budget.
>>84511312
Let's ask the obvious question. Any albino women in the field?
>>84511312
Christ. I really need to double check shit I type on my phone.
>>84511312
I think there's a Mr. Bonds as well.
>>84507406
Fuck, Byrne was such an amazing artist.
>>84507489
>>84507520
To be fair her hair was originally white in her first appearance.
>>84507370
What "legal and binding" contract would allow you to cut off someone's head? And not be got for murder?
>>84507795
Ah.
