Part of me wants to see Disney adapt more adult stories and novels. On the one hand, the risk of bastardization is high. On the other hand, if they could thread the needle, if they could capture the essence of a work while still making it safe for families, consider how glorious the movie would be.

Egyptian setting.
Japanese setting, possibly focusing on mythological feel to be distinct from Mulan.
50's B Movie feel.
BBW princess.
Russian setting.
A version of Death that is morose and sad, but not evil. Discworld getting cancelled hurt this one a bit.
An actual threatening villain in the vein of Maleficent and the Horned King. Khoschei?
Native American setting.
A straight up animal film similar to Bambi or Lion King.
