It actually fits in pretty well, all things considered. Only a few minor changes from Multiversity (Flash is called Accelerating Man in E-19, and E-11's Flash is Jesse Quick, E-51 is more a Kirbyverse, Teen Titans Go universe), but it's certainly better than I expected.

Surprised they even did a Kingdom Come Colonel. Guess one of Clark and Diana's kids took up the tie.

No, the baseball connection is that the Japanese equivalent to the Billy Goat Curse is the Curse of the Colonel.

Way back in 1985, after the Hanshin Tigers won the Japanese World Series, some drunken fans were celebrating by doing cannonballs into the local river. As each fan jumped in, they called out the name of a player they looked like. The problem was that season, the Tigers had an American on the team, Randy Bass. And since white dudes were hard to come by for this little game, the fans decided to just steal a Colonel Sanders statue from the local KFC and throw it in the river.

Ever since, the Tigers have never won another Japanese World series, even after some dredging of the river a few years ago turned up most of the Colonel's statue.

Also, the lovable loser status of the Tigers was used in the Pokemon anime: That's where they got the Electabuzz Baseball team from Johto from.

I grew up in the south, and to get a bucket of the Colonel's chicken, with all the trimmings was a VERY big deal.
(When I say the only chicken, potatoes, gravy, biscuits, etc that tasted better were the ones my grandmother made, I mean it.) The food was absolutely delicious.

And it wasn't just at one location, ALL of them did their food the same way, the standards were that high.

Once the company got bought out and became corporatized, everything went to shit. It didn't even begin to compare to what it used to taste like. We went from begging our folks to get a bucket to begging them to go someplace else.

You can't walk into a KFC today, anywhere in the country, order a meal, and have it taste remotely like it did before it became a corporate franchise machine. They don't use the same recipes, they don't use the same cooking methods, they use substandard ingredients, etc.

It's not as simple as that, the colonel could get away wth the level of quality control that he had because; at the time, his chain was still relatively small and regional. The new owners leveraged the reputation he built up to expand the chain rapidly both nationally and internationally; and at that scale you simply cannot maintain a quality control regime that stringent, nor can you source ingredients of the requisite quality for a reasonable cost.
