I'm afraid it's less about moralfagging and more about hating the fact that the boy is always portrayed as the one who needs to learn a lesson because yes. When I did a rewatch of the series before the finale I went in without prejudices, and still felt annoyed by how Dipper is always put in the condition where he has to do the opposite of what he wanted at the beginning to stop the episode's threat.
