Fur is too brown. But here's a tip for you.
According to the interviews, when making Judy, WDAS realized that grey fur is boring and quickly becomes an uninteresting spot to human the eye, so they added a subtle shade of purple to liven it up. That's also how Judy got her violet eyes.
Have you tried that?

these fucking collars simply imply "this person is worse than others", meaning already there's something wrong with the city.
>>84118262
Heh
>>84118327
The more they worked on it, the more the team realised how fucked up the collar idea was due to all the implications they begun to discover.
I also seem to recall that the team felt physically depressed due to how fucked up the world was.
>>84118363
yeah, it was easy way to make "muh feel" scenes.
but somehow they kept digging deeper, was that because of director's ignorance?
>>84117574
Fucking this
>>84117653
This would be great
>>84117691
This would be terrible and ruin the joke
>>84118395
Not necessarily ignorance, but when you've dug yourself so deep, it's hard to find a way out.
It was when the showed the first rough cut to Pixar when they were told "They [Nick] wouldn't want to save the city, it's irredeemable, they would just leave".
That's when the team revamped the story and setting, but then they couldn't the script to work properly since they kept Nick as the lead character.
When they switched Judy in to be the lead, with Nick as co-lead, everything fell into place. IIRC the director/producer said "It was like having all the puzzle pieces fall into place" or something along those lines.
>>84117064

>>84118465

>>84118559

If the author wasn't furry he/she would simply said "I loved that movie" or somwthing like that.

It was a great idea for a noir movie with a bitter or a botter-sweet ending. But if you want to make a family friendly Disney film with a message about tolerance and happy smiles all around at the end, the collars made it fucking impossible to pull off.
I understand why they kept the collars for so long. From a storytelling and wordbuilding perspective, it's a great idea. But not for PG Disney movie. Good idea, wrong movie.

You have to draw the line somewhere, or you end up swearing off antibiotics for fear of harming your intestinal microbiome. It helps that fish are a lot stupider than mammals, including aquatic mammals.
Other settings have different lines. The Ironclaw setting (aka DnD for the cast of Zootopia) has sentient mammals using lizards for livestock, so it draws its line in the same place. Personally, I'm fond of the approach where you have sentient and non-sentient members of every species, like in Narnia. I think hunters have to check if the deer is wearing jewellery before loosing an arrow.

I love what we got, but the original concept "furry 1984" would be great
> zootopia is advertised as the greatest place ever but is a rapture like Shit hole
> prey on top, predators are oppressed
> shock collars, musk mask , teeth dulling tooth paste and ect
> Nick scamming hos way through life funding his secret park for pred kids
> it's found out and Judy is sent after him
> Judy is a badass judge dredd motherfucker and is hunting Nick down , who managed to escape his collar
> as this is happening the word has leaked to the public who are now rioting
> as the plot progresses it's getting worse and worse , prey races are losing their grip
> just catches up with Nick though he has to save her at one point
> her mind is slowly turning over becoming close friends with him
> they eventually escape together as the city crumbles to civil war
I wanted to write it, but it's probably been dozen dozens of times, some better then I could , also I would introduce a terrorist extreme faction of predators
It would be very much on point if today's issue of extreme right vs left

10 to 1 is actually based on nature. You could argue is should be more prey animals given that they aren't being hunted, but the same argument boosts the other side of the equation when a predator can walk into a shop and buy a box of food instead of hunting.

IĀ“d be surprised if this concept of versatility wasnĀ“t also adopted onto the vehcles of the ZPD. As you may have noticed, Judys suit isnĀ“t made of fabric but neopren, which reflects mentioned versatility, as neopren can be used over a wide temperature range from ā45 Ā°C to +100 Ā°C

It was blindingly obvious in the move that they needed small officers to go with the huge ones. A rhino going into Little Rodentia would be a disaster. I figured they did have a rodent police force but that little critters wouldn't normally be allowed into the ZPD proper, thus Judy's novelty as the first rabbit officer. What they really needed for Little Rodentia was some weasel officers. Weasels. Are literally designed to hunt down mice.

Eh.. yeah, yeah, I guess you're right.. but then we end up with crap that's just an animal head on a human bod, which makes it more of a zoomorphic human than an anthropomorphic animal. The key think here is that its an animal that is like a human, not the other way around. I strongly feel that an orthodox should be established so that artists can base their designs off of a certain standard. In my opinion, the designs as depicted in Zootopia are the supreme standard.

Could the same not be said for the designs of humans? Of course, we do have designs and styles that vary, such as the grotesque and exaggerated designs as seen in cartoons, and the realistic proportions as seen in some Disney animated films. With this in mind, I feel that the governing factor here is intention. Cartoons use their exaggerated style with the intention of creating a cartoon design. The Disney animations use a realistic standard with the intention of retaining a sense of believably. Now, let's look at Zootopia. They're designs are well within the boundaries of an acceptable and believable depiction of reality (and this is their intention), however, the designs are still seasoned with their own style (large eyes, simplified color pallet, HOWEVER still bound by a reasonable degree of realism). Reality is technically the default standard for artistic styles. A cartoon depiction of a human is still based off of the real proportions of a human, however, diluted in exaggeration. It becomes unorthodox. As such, the designs of anthropomorphic animals as seen in Zootopia are based of reality, and thus, should be the base standard of all designs of anthropomorphic animals. This becomes the orthodox. To modify the orthodox design with your own style is to distance your design with the orthodoxy. However, this can be justified with the intention.

Zootopia's basic theme was prejudice & stereotypes. That's about how specific you can get, otherwise its meaning changes depending on who you ask.
The same will apply to the sequel, they have to choose something that's timeless and transcends cultures. "Immigration and its far-left manipulators" is a very Americentric/Western Eurocentric idea.

To that Anon I gave the Renderman file to, how is it going for you?If you're still here and not dead or anything.
>>84130184
I'm here all day... I just wanted to have a quick loot at how the materials worked in Renderman- don't have the knowledge to expand upon anything at the moment.
Other than that, planning an animation using >>84127531. Calculated the render time at 500x500 to be around 3 days for 12 seconds and just planning how I'd like everything to work. Might take a while because it's my very first time, but eh it's all fun.

>adding stretching to the rig
YES PLEASE. The Tweak controls aren't enough, and they deform oddly. I wasn't able to get use out of them when the mesh decided to shit itself in the somewhat extreme yoga positions. I would also be able to effectively practice true squash and stretch which seems to be all the rave in animation.
>>84130351
Just read the documentation. Trust me once you use any well known renderer other than Cycles (except Yafaray) you'll never want to go back.
>>84130452
I tried with literally no knowledge on rendering engines and obviously struggled, but I've been doing this properly for 2 weeks now so maybe it'll be easier. I'll have another look tomorrow and really dive into it while I wait for things to render tbqh.

>>84130501
Picking up a RTFM pipeline really helps on learning anything.
>>84130652
Well, yes, but it's rather more difficult when it's not aimed at complete novices.
Don't have anything new to add to the animation since I spent the better part of the day waiting for some very well needed critique from some people (critique that saved my life, honestly) but have a webm of the animation in Bezier curve form. Of course this isn't even close to what the finished project will look like, but I wanted to post something.
After adding 2 - 3 very important poses I was informed of, I'll move on to properly spacing all of the keyframes for the timing I'll need throughout the scene, and then adjust it as needed when I move on to more tweening n shiet.

Why not buy the game and customise your car to look like their police car at the end of the film? Then just replace all the normie characters with animals and you're there!
>>84130758
>>84130501
I can only speak from my own perspective on this, but I do not believe that getting deep into rendering and what different renderers do/can't do is a bad idea if you're new to this.
Once you get into rendering things like (relatively) complicated Volumetrics, lighting that's more than a single lamp, Subsurface scattering and caustics, portals, particles, CUDA and other shit (CUDA was a bitch once upon a time) etc, then maybe you should consider your rendering options, but bogging yourself down with other renderers is a bad idea when you don't even have an understanding of your standard renderer, Cycles. I've fallen into this trap myself when I began using Photoshop and After Effects years ago with their tremendous amount of fantastic plugins. Long story short, I ended up wasting about 2 months with plugins and other shit, but I still didn't know how to do the standard procedures in either software. After I knew what the hell I was doing, and needed things like Element 3D or whatever plugins would be beneficial for the project, I used them. So to save yourself from that, I would recommend having a decent understanding of your vanilla Blender options before making drastic switches.
>>84130873
There's no keyframe between the Warrior 2 position and the Warrior 1 position, so the interpolation takes the shortest route through the head, rather than the to-be-animated route around the body.
Anyone else noticed that the film is trending on Normiebook?
>>84129481
I probably should've clarified that if it (or anything close to it) were to be ued, it must be under the subtle guise of the "be accepting" theme to a further extent, with the plot's context just happening to be migrating birds or something. Same as any other movie needing a frame for their open allegorical connections.
Regardless it's just one of many different ideas I toyed with.

I actually have a fairly large textbook on all that stuff (pic related) although I stopped reading it before my exams started a month or so ago. I do know the basics from this and was planning to write an essay on the mathematics that go into it at some point, so was going to read it anyway.
I, uh, maybe should've clarified a bit more when I said 'no knowledge'.
>>84131638
Don't worry, I'm a rogue or whatever you call it in-game.

I would bet its based on search preferences. I keep my fandom of this movie completely private and its not trending for me.

Thank you, those kind words really make me feel better. Mind if I spew some of my ideas? My first idea is a show about a Jellyfish kid. I know the whole "underwater" deal is taken by Spongebob, but I digress. The show is centered around the titular "Jelly Kid" and his friends, a Squid, a Octopus, a Sea Urchin, and an Anemone. They live in a future setting where the world was essentially sunken underwater. The fish and ocean life evolved to become the dominant species, inhabiting the old cities the humans did. Some episodes would explain this lore a bit, with the main characters exploring ruins and learning history on field trips or whatever. The hometown of Jelly Kid is a seaside town inspired by my childhood vacation spot, Wildwood, New Jersey. The art style would be very water color-y, and tropical. The show wouldn't be preachy like Steven Universe or "lol so random" like most cartoons, it would be something like classic Saturday morning cartoons. There to make you laugh and feel happy. No real villains, just things a kid would find scary, like teachers or monsters. If there was a villain, so to speak, I've imagined a Mantis Shrimp character. I also had the idea that the show would grow with the kids doing the voices. You'd watch these kids grow up into adults, and then it would come time to say goodbye. With a theatrical movie, maybe? Since I was a kid my goal in life was to be an animator and make people happy. I've always been that kind of person I guess. Too empathetic for my own good. I have a sketchbook full of designs but for now, they're just dreams waiting to come true.

It had a potential to become big franchise, but I understand disneys reluctancy towards zootopia, the problem was at the very beginning, one stupid mistake, one stupid item that should never be invented was going to be a key thing in a family film.
I'm alone in this, I know. But this is my theory and i'm gonna stick to it

Zootopia predators all as black is just ironically racist of the artists IMO, especially the reasoning behind Nick. I'd rather they just match their VA's and stick to a floating context of discrimination rather than equating it to Africans.
i really though that foxes are allegory of black men.
