I just assume that everyone wearing a comic shirt doesn't actually read comics, they just like the character. However, it helps support the character and industry so they're cool in my book anyway. Alright. Picture that Wolfenstein 3D came out in 1992. Six years later, Half Life came along and completely defined the modern FPS experience. Just picture how mindblowing that was at the time. For reference, in today's industry, in 6 years we've gone from Modern Warfare to Modern Warfare but with crafting and stealth segments.

Half Life 2 did the same sort of thing but on a lesser scale, it still introduced a bunch of new concepts that instantly became the new mainstream. Basically people want HL3 because they expect a similar sort of total revamp of everything.
