I finally got caught up on Prequel, and I'm a bit disappointed. Over the course of what, 5 years, a week has passed in the story. At this rate I fear the updates will stop entirely. I really enjoy the setting and how it works. Most of the humor gets a chuckle out of me, and the characters are all unique and enjoyable. But at this constant rate of getting nothing, I don't know if I have the patience to wait a year for the next update.


Is everything held up because of the fund raiser and side games? I honestly could live without either of those and be perfectly fine. It was fun to play those minigames, but they're ultimately time sinks for when an update could come along .

I guess that's my pointless rant. You've probably have heard this countless times, but it bothers me just enough to post.

There's not any black magic going on, scripts are pretty simple.

Anything that starts with // is a comment and computers ignore it.

First we set up some variables to make the code more humane. Then we sort the contents by reverse order of appearence. Then we move the navigation buttons at the bottom of the page. We remove the sidebar and extend the posts so they take up most of the screen. Lastly we change the Tumblr title.

Computer literacy can only work to your advantage. If you're still reluctant, try pasting the lines one by one (except lines 16 to 19, they need to be together to work).

That's what I mean though. He only draws female-bodied anthros and the occasional pony, all with the same style as if he's trying to meet some arbitrary restrictions. I've never him experiment with his drawings or his technique and I think that's what burned him out. Essentially he's always drawing the same thing along with all the convoluted rituals required to make it look like all his other drawings.

As far as I can tell, he reached a skill plateau and now he wont leave it for the fear of sucking but that's exactly what's making him think he's stuck. If he'd stop being afraid of sucking and start trying new things I'm sure he'd find drawing fun once again.

See this is the odd thing

Originally he was going to copy Kaz's style completely for Prequel. He even did an update and no one or very few noticed.

Over time though this sort of reverted and now you can tell which panels are his easily.

So he can obviously draw in other ways, he just always seems to go back to this same style.

Maybe helping Kaz had a negative influence on him. Kaz draws things with a kind of minimalist approach, flat colors with thick aliased outlines and working on Prequel cider must have had to stay in those guidelines and maybe these guidelines stuck to him as the only way to draw, or at least the only we he can draw without sucking.

I too find it hard to -do- art fit for a particular purpose over and over again.

It took me a while to realize just because I enjoy art, it doesn't mean I should pounce on it as a career and risk having the joy sucked out of it.

For a long time I was able to mitigate my depression by putting all my focus into art and getting better, and finally realized I can just do art for fun whenever; I don't have to make it a thing that I have obligations to.

I hope Cider learns to just chill. I suspect some of the reason behind his occasional 'funk', so to speak (aside from the obvious PTSD of course) is he feels pressured by everything.
Pressure that things aren't getting done on time.
Pressure that he feels like he's not improving fast enough.
And then pressure that everyone is being supportive, so he feels like he owes people shit in return.

Just chill. Embrace art as a recreation and a stress reliever rather than trying to shoehorn it into being a job or a purpose in life.
