Seems like AS couldn't quite swing things financially cost/profit-wise for a new season or miniseries on their own, and didn't want to share out rights with possible financial partners.

Real problem in TV, at least for shows that aren't the baby of somebody at the top. Right around the 4th or 5th season there's enough episodes that a big enough profit can be made from reruns and syndication that the effort to keep going becomes less and less justified unless it keeps becoming more profitable or it's seen as burnishing a networks "prestige"

Well, it was a target/niche audience, to begin with. I mean who really gets jokes like "Burgerzum"? You have to be up to date on the current state of black/death metal to really get the humor. That being said, it is sad news that it's getting cancelled. I enjoyed the show, and I don't even like that style of metal. (But I knew enough about it to get the jokes and find it funny)

Man, all these people complaining and saying that their preferred genre of metal is better is fucking ridiculous. I would guess most of the people saying this stuff are people that don't really know much about metal in general honestly.

I don't listen to much metal, but listen to a lot of hip hop. People who listened to like 30 classic albums love to say people like Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, etc. aren't good artists but someone who really enjoys hip hop will find almost always find something that big artists from most genres of hip hop will enjoy if they're really open minded. Instead it's just usually people that like to pretend they're really fans of hip hop and act superior because they listened to Illmatic and Madvillainy.
