I always enjoyed the show a lot. The only season I didn't like was 6, which still had some good ones but mostly sucked or was just mediocre. Current season is amazing. Favorite episode is Jake Suit, least favorite is Breezy.

Flame Princess is best girl, Bubbline is OTP, Fiiona and Cake are fun.

The way they seem to use Lich is every other season finale, and since the last season ended with the Comet it seems like his time should be coming up.
But Preeboot/Reboot don't really sound like Lich episodes to me so I don't know. Plus he hasn't gotten any action this season (aside from Crossover but that doesn't count) so he's lacking buildup.

I think finale could be about Ice King's crown or something completely different.

He had no build-up for his s2 and s5 appearances. Besides, Sweet P is having regular nightmares, and the outbreak in Gold Stars was pretty ominous. Crossover also had Lich's arm dropping into the multiverse portal.

Season 2 was kind of supposed to be a big swerve that surprised everyone, and I think his shit in Wake Up and Escape from the Citadel had some build up with past episodes. At least a lil.

Gold Stars was a year and a half ago so I don't think that's build up for the current finale (should he be in it).

Preeboot/Reboot just don't sound like Lich eps to me, unless he's trying to reboot the universe into having no life. Even then isn't that basically what he did in the season 5 premiere with Prismo?

The problem with Adventure Time has been with it since the very beginning, even if it took awhile to fully come out. The show's inherent levity and pop-silliness prevents it from fully committing to dramatic storytelling, turning interesting plotlines into bungles.

I haven't watched AT past Season 5. Actually, I caught Breezy (s6e6) and decided that the show's gone to total shit. That episode single handedly made me drop what I once considered my favorite cartoon. Sooooooooo bad.

Anyway, has the show gotten any better? Has worst girl Flame Princess left the show entirely? Since SU, Archer, and SvtFoE are on haitus, I haven't been able to get my cartoon fix. Are the new seasons worth my time? Pic unrelated.

What do you miss the most about classic AT /co/?

Finn and Jake's super early characterizations were really awesome. Finn was like a nearly feral paladin who would rip evil apart anytime he got anywhere near it and Jake was actually a calming force for his lil bro who tried to steer Finn's crazy passion into the right channels.

Miss those guys. Modern Finn and Jake are cool too but Finn can be annoyingly passive at times and Jake is a huge retard a lot more often (though he's been wiser in season 7).

This will always confuse the shit out of me. First half of Marceline's existence was exclusively her hanging out with Finn while the later half is her hanging out with everyone but Finn.
Some anon once said it was like Marceline got a restraining order against Finn and it's such an apt comparison.

It's like, just why? I literally cannot understand it. Either the writers are too far up their ass with sad Simon bullshit or Bubbline bullshit that they think any diversions with Finn are a waste or it's been so long they can't actually remember what Finn and Marceline's chemistry is like.

I think what it is, is they're obsessed with "subversion" to the point if they imply something's gonna happen, it must be good writing to NOT do that thing.

The foreshadowing told us that Finn would lose his arm, so it's good to do anything but that.

It's not like there's one defined way that AT 'works' anyway, compare season 1 to 6. It's the same show, as hard as that is to believe.
Every individual writers is responsible for like 40% of their own episodes anyway, so basically everyone is working on their own version of Adventure Time that's totally separate from everyone else's.

It's a risk that could pay dividends. There's a chance all the new writers will just totally suck, but as it goes. Even then that will freshen up the show a whole lot.

I miss old AT. The show pretty much single-handedly rejuvenated cartoons back to their former glory after all the bullshit CN was peddling through the mid to late 2000s. Hell, I'm pretty sure Adventure Time brought CN out of a near-bankruptcy they put themselves in with CN Real.

I'm the guy who earlier in this thread said I'm gonna give the show another try. I've been watching it for the past hour or so, and a lot of the old charm shines through. I want to hate this show, but every now and then you get a glimpse of what made it define the cartoons of this decade.

I think Flute Spell may show some great growth for Finn, kind of. Going after some random chick like Huntress is pretty new for him: she's not a princess and it's the first time he tried going after someone who was kind of like him (read: not candy Hitler or a girl who had been imprisoned her entire life). HW seems like a rad girl who goes on adventures just like Finn.

It took him a while to admit- or perhaps even realize- that he was attracted to her. Maybe he was just embarrassed, or maybe he was still conflicted over his feelings of PB and FP. Maybe he thought he was betraying them or some shit like that.

He still admitted it though, and things actually kind of worked out. HW didn't get with him, but that's cause she's a weirdo, not due to any fault of Finn. He seemingly ends up accepting that dating sucks but in the end is worth it if you find that special someone.
