Dixon is a gun carrier, and generally knows his stuff, but he knows when to balance that with what is necessary for some action sequences. I enjoyed Strike Back, but Edmonson and Gerads go full on tacticool bored me. I will admit it fit the context of the story they wanted to tell. The stylish action in Cheeto and Rucka's run isn't something I can really comment on.

I think I get why the Punisher doesn't really work outside of comics.

I think it has to do with the ego of actors, and wanting to develop a thing that you shouldn't and the inability to just play a force of nature.

Like is almost the best on screen Punisher but even he gets too into it emotionally.

Tucker Stone has a podcast he does sometimes, recently he had Michel Fiffe and Charles Foreman to talk Punisher movies. They talked about how the best Punisher movies aren't called the Punisher. Movies like Deathwish or Ms. 45 are great because they're cheap revenge flicks without much else going on, like the best Punisher comics

The Punisher, when done right imo, is more like a force of nature than a character.
