I think the story isn't a prophecy of what's to come to Hellboy,but of what happened to the world previous to ours, and that paralels the fate of that old world.


>The giants,the fire demon and the necromancer are paralel to Prof. Bruttenholm,Abe,Roger, and other characters who influenced Hellboy,like Astaroth,Hecate or Bromhead.

>The sequence with all those dead animals is the Hell on Earth series.

>The sequence with the spirits of the death African chiefs and the spirit of Africa is to Makoma as the descend to Hell was for Hellboy.

>The old witch is Queen Mab, and the young witch is Alice.

>The boy,who was released from that fire demon,is the founder of the New Race of Man.

So I think Abe's not gonna make to the next world; Liz is the one who'll pass Vryl to the next men.
